Sorry for the novel, I believe there is a niche market that will pay a premium price.

The wife called my husbands phone during his first daytime nap in a few weeks, it went to voicemail. BUT, I have it me to call her back tomorrow to express my dismay about the wet wood and non-return for the stacking that we paid for. My husband split 8 cords by hand in horrific conditions that winter when I needed his assistance inside, keeping warm took presidence.... I will likely call her back in the morning with a fresh mind and clean concise language on the performance from last spring from them.

Typically right now you can buy green wood here for $60/face cord or the equivalent of $180 a full cord. I sold a little wood this year at $75/face cord and another $5/cord delivered 20 miles. This wood was Ash and a little Maple that had been felled last winter, split and stacked in the spring/early summer and seasoned rather nicely for six months in the sun and some wind. It would be better to season it longer but that is what I had. The moisture content was very good. Maple dries nicely and Ash dries even quicker. I just delivered another load to one of the guys who bought from me in the fall for the same price. He heats more regularly with his stove than the other guy. He said he was very happy with the wood and would like another load right now. (After I got done unloading that load.) I had to tell him I could not spare more, had to save it for myself. :picard:Dam. I told him the best I could do was to bring him some c/s/s standing dead Ash that would burn good for him if he could not find anything better. He said to call him after I get it cut. I told him I won't sell it to him unless the moisture content is good for burning. I'm not selling anything the moisture content is too high on. He said he understood.

So the customers are out there that will pay a little more for wood that is "seasoned". Finding decently "seasoned" wood around here is another story. I can't tell you how many people who sell wood up here think that their wood that has been cut into logs for over six months is seasoned now. They just split it before they bring it to you.
