I did the production at all cost thing for a long time at the dealership. This place isn’t like that. Just educated idiots making dumb decisions that cost more time and money in the long run. The up side is there is all the hours I want to work always, with the occasional chit show fire drill.

I must be a lucky one. I saw my boss for the first time this year on 11/9. He lives about 4 hours south-east and lets me alone 95% of the time. :dex:

When that happens around here, all of a sudden, I'm in charge. It's amazing how little I know when things are running smoothly though.

Once you get to the point where you can laugh at the chaos, it's no longer stressful.

I'm a Buyer at a pump manufacturer for my profession. We're seen this going back to the date of your post, and it's still an issue with different lubricants. There's a lubricant that is used on a type of graphite impregnated packing rope shaft seal that is currently a thorn in my side. It didn't help that the manufacturer closed the old plant in Illinois and moved all manufacturing to a new plant in South Africa. They haven't been able to produce this rope gasket for months and after it finally gets made it has to go by ship to all over, notably back to Chicago area. Go figure. I see rolling shortages/ outages for all sorts of commodities.

The components that I buy are used to build pumps that provide water to the tops of skyscrapers, municipal sub stations, for watering of crops, use in HVAC, and even pumping/ moving water in wastewater treatment plants.
