Considering the work, you are doing it looks like you have a pretty clean shop, that's not an easy task in itself. I don't miss that part of that kind of work. I paid my dues however it was kind of cool working on some big stuff; well..... sometimes anyway.
New sneakers, cab mounts and some various little things a T650 this am. We’ll see what the afternoon bring, you never know around here.
The building is only a couple years old, they have a cleaning crew come in and do the floors with a floor machine every month. It’s a constant battle. Slobbys world in the corner isn’t so tidy… the old shop we were in was terrible. It WILL NOT get that way as long as I’m here.
Oh I am with you on that. My shop is clean , granted it is a machine shop so a little easier to control. But there is one , yup" I have one here too. It is a full time job trying to get him to clean up and finish a job. If you ever need to find just follow the trail of tools and when you get to the end he's probably there.
Well , clean at the moment. Just finished class last week and spent yesterday getting things back in order. Ready for the next wave
I like it. Very pleased to see practical machining still being taught. My boss bought a 25,000sqft building two years ago and started bringing in the big cabinet machines. I asked if he was going to put any practical machines in and he kind-of winced. It is not intended to be a for hire shop, he legitimately needs the capacity for manufacturing large pumps and anciliaries. I am no machinist, but my Grandfather was. I got to spend a little time with him in the shop he worked in after hours as he helped me to rebuild a truck engine there. Smallish shop, part of a trucking business but fully equipped. Machines were mainly green in color though I do not recall the branding. I found the cam polishing machine? to be extra cool. I spent most of my time standing at a blast cabinet though. lol At least it was something I could do. Cherished Memories.
The kids enjoy coming here and most of them are fun to work with and they appreciate what we provide for them. Some do need a little more help than others but that's all part of it. I am fortunate to have all this at my disposal , and if we don't have it here in this shop there is another shop here in the building that is a job shop but I have access there as well. We have CNC knee mills here as well and a cabinet machine and CNC lathe next door but we teach the basics here with the option to do more if the kids want to get a little more involved , need to teach them to walk before they can run.
