Same here. Too much to do so I'll be out in the heat. A cold front is coming through today (69 right now) and tomorrow is looking like the coolest day of the week (hopefully remain in the low 60's) so I'll try to finish bucking this log pile to open up the area. Then firewood processing will be on hold for a bit so I can get my raised garden beds set up. The power line tree company also dropped off ten loads of chips over the last couple weeks so I need to take care of those as well.
I split and stacked four loads of Beech today, picture 1884 & 85 is what's left of the Beech pile. I'm hoping for two face cord so we'll see how much we have after I'm done. It was a great day for it, not many bugs at all. When I came in it was 60 degrees.
I finished splitting and stacking the two face cord of Beech but before that I cleaned the filters and checked the oil in the MTD 20 ton. Pictures 1894 & 1895 are what's left of the Beech pile and the Maple.
Thanks T.Jeff Veal , I didn't cut my usual 12 face cord in this spring but most of the wood I did cut has better btu's. I have a total of five face cord stacked from the wood I cut but I'm hoping for another three face cord with the wood left in the picture and what's left in the back gully. When I get done we'll have 52 or 53 face cord in inventory. Based on 12 face cord, that will give us just over 4 years worth of wood. This year I plan on cutting some in the summer and more in the fall.
I learned my lesson years back about staying hydrated, I have a nice three gallon igloo cooler that I use in the summer if I plan on being in the woods.
I still have a whole bunch of trees I haven't watered after drinking a chit load of water while working.
You might want to take a little time off from your workout schedule and add some air to that rear tire.....
Me too...clothes will be soaking wet though... This was end of July '20 Even my leather gloves got wet enough to stain my hands...lol
I took down 3 elms & got 2 of them limbed & cleaned up, the big one is limbed but not cleaned up. Hopefully this weekend maybe I can them bucked up & hauled out.
Last year our neighbor needed some 4 face cord of firewood because his firewood guy never delivered so I took it out of an area that holds 10 face which left six. Tomorrow I'll start moving 2 face cord of seasoned wood (will be stacked in the back) that will fill up the above area with 10 face cord again, 8 will be seasoned enough to burn and the two face cord up front (stacked last fall) will need another year or two. The two face cord I'm moving should be some yellow birch, soft maple, hard maple and some ash. So next year instead of burning 12 face of ash, I'll burn 4 ash and 8 of the above if needed.
I moved one face cord today and then washed the truck, I didn't have any bugs around today but with the warmer temps coming in, that will change. I'll finish off the stack that's behind the one I started today and then finish the stack in the back.
I finished up the stacking in area number 3 that holds ten face cord, eight face cord are ready to burn this year. I had some left in picture 1901 so I pulled off the tarp and put it in with some seasoned Ironwood. I also moved just under a face cord of Ironwood too fill that stack up, I still need about twenty rounds and that will be done. The rest of the prime rib will taste great again tonight.
The wife wanted to go for a ride today so we did that first, even though we haven't had much rain, the woods is greening up nice. Once we came back, I grabbed a bite to eat and took a load of pine needles and bark on the trail the leads up top.
