Erik B , how are you doing this morning? I saw some flooding on the news this morning that was out in your area, I'm hoping the house stayed dry. I'm not sure where he lives but it looks bad out there. NEW INFORMATION: Western Wisconsin roads flooded
Thanks for the concern, its appreciated. We ended up with 6.6 inches of rain in 48 hours and the lawn is very squishy and I have water standing in one part of the garden. We had a river running thru the lawn when it was raining hard. I went for a short walk this afternoon and I was still seeing water coming out of the woods by the road. So far no flood damage close to me but there are roads withing 20 miles that were closed due to high water. Forecast for the next week includes a chance of rain most days and nights, just not as much as we got in the last 48 hours. I need a week of dry weather before I can get into my woods without doing damage to my lawn. I am just north of La Crosse, WI.
I am getting both done at the same time. Had a few maples blow over in the summer storms that are blocking my trails so got out to cut them up today. Low humidity and cool temps. First maples in my stacks since we cleared the lot for the new house seven years ago. As I have said before 90% of my stacks are dead standing Red Oak. Will have to split this and put it in the 2018 stacks. :stacke: How do you guys keep your trails cleared? I am thinking of getting a hedge trimmer and running down my trails with it.
I keep the paths in the wood mowed with my garden tractor. Chainsaws take care of any trees that fall over the paths. My Stihl brush cutter is always ready if needed.
A combination of chain saw, weed whacker and pruners along with simply picking up the dead limbs that have fallen.
Most of our trail clearing comes after mother nature throws a wind event or an ice storm at us, I usually just use the chainsaw. We let the grass grow on our trails, we always have grouse or smaller birds in the tall grass feeding on something or they use it for cover.
