Oh i should have mentioned, John Lawler puts threads occasionally on FHC to announce firewood cutting days.
He has 40 kids from ohio in town this week to split and stack. Some are building a deck and they have other projects going on also in the community.

Fired up the lathe today. Made a cute little curly maple bowl out of a piece of firewood a coworker found in his stack. I used WoodTurnerinPA 's bandsaw (since mine hasn't come in yet) to cut it into a bowl blank.
    (About 7"x2" finished)

Amazing what you find in the firewood pile.

    Beautiful grain!

    What kind of bandsaw?

I tell my turning students when they make a mistake on a piece from a firewood pile, "you just make a designer piece of firewood"! That is one beautiful bowl for sure.

I ordered it in November and they said it was backordered till the end of January.
Well... the end of January is here and no call yet. I paid for it up front to get the sale price.:binoculars:

Playing with some flat wood today. (Poplar)

    20210131_213924.jpg 20210131_211534.jpg 20210131_211525.jpg 20210131_211504.jpg 20210131_211451.jpg

I'm not much of a wood worker but had some fun trying. Lol

Took some time but managed to line the grain up from first piece to last
