It’s a work of art in my opinion. We are very happy so far. I should have took more pics but got busy. We did use 2 furniture Dolly’s that were back savers. I added some 2X4s that made the height of raised hearth and the stove the same height so we didn’t really have to pick the stove up very high. We almost just slid it off. It worked well.

Absolutely beautiful.... I think that’s like what Backwoods Savage has.... and it throws out some uniform heat...

Congratulations Slocum. Yes, as Chvymn99 said, that is the same stove we have. We're starting on our 19th year burning in this stove. It has served us very well indeed. Really cut our wood needs in half or more and it keeps us warm! Just ask some of the guys who have been here for one of our get-togethers! I laugh when just a couple sticks roasts them out of the house.

Looking good! These are great stoves. I'm burning an older model Fireview (201) and love it. I'm sure you're going to like the way the heat feels off the soapstone.

Just in time to do a couple low break-in fires, then fend off the cold snap that's coming in a few days. Heck, those look like January temps! o_O
You're gonna love that stove.

I love mine! Got it in 2012 and finally replaced the cat this past year. Otherwise it has performed perfectly, and heats all of our upstairs 1600sq ft New England Chalet.

Your set up looks great! Were happy so far. 8 degrees this morning and inside temp was 73 after 9 hours without loading. We also have a ideal steel in our basement which we really like but the fire view holds heat like nothing I’ve ever seen. Is your stove pipe thermometer a probe or just a magnet?

Congratulations on the new Fireview Slocum. We’re really loving ours. You’re right, it sure does hold the heat!

Maina, good to see you back. I remember when you got your Fireview. So happy it has worked out so well for you. And yes, ours is still going strong. We're going into our 13th year with ours.

Thank you Backwoods Savage, I appreciate the welcome.
We definitely chose the right stove for our needs, and got the best manufacturer in the bargain. It’s tried and true and so is Woodstock Soapstone. I enjoy doing business with such quality people. It sure instills confidence and that’s increasingly hard to find.

I picked mine up for $400. I sanded the stone, repainted it, and installed a new cat.

Since you have both the ideal and the Fireview... I have a question.

Do the both put out about the same amount of heat? I'm curious if if I would have went with a Fireview instead of the ideal steel, would the Fireview give out the same heat running both with roughly the same amount of wood and not pushing either one to the max output?
