The 30 takes just a couple minutes to get the fire going on a full load, but longer before I can shut down the air for a "long" burn.
I usually back it off over 50% once the STT is about 4-450, then gradually down to either all closed or mostly closed.
The 3 badges the stoves wear are Englander, Timber Ridge, and Summers Heat.......all the same stove sold by different retailers.

The easy to manage reload/new load in the stove aspect is greatly underrated advantage for many people. Another plus is it's easier to keep the glass clean with minimal extra effort required.

I was thinking northern tool had one that was not any of those names? Id have to go look.

Funny thing is that there similar in price but I think the timber ridge costs a good bit more.

Some were similar in price though. Was thinking that I saw HD this year with one of the other names and not the englander name this year?? Not sure though?

I own both the NC30 and the BK cat stove. It takes much much longer and with much more finicking to get the NC30 burning steady before I can trust it to walk away for the next several hours before I have to reload. The thermostat on the BK means as soon as I can engage the cat, I can set the stat and leave it for 20-30 hours.

If you ever have a chance to run one, you'll see, the amount of effort to run one of these longburning cat stoves (BK or WS) is hugely smaller than a non-cat. That's why I have the BK in my house. It's all about high performance, low effort, and steady output.

The sound of the BK is what I need. That sounds perfect for me

I read his story on hearth. Is he on here? Cool dude, I offered for him to test my princess in his house just before their mods tossed me out, don't call a chainsaw thief an azz hole over there. It'll get you thrown out.

He had two jotuls, i think he replaced at least one of them with an ashford. and yea, he has a 3000+ SF stone, uninsulated farm house in the valley forge area.....
He has the means to do whatever, he chooses to battle with wood....

Yeah ... thinks roughing it is Slow Room Service. Seriously, lived about 3 years in a tent in the wilderness of Canada back in the day. That cured me of any delusions about the romance of black flies, deer flies, horse flies and mosquitoes ... but I've learned to be less judgmental of slow room service.

Want to swap stoves for a week? :handshake:
We will need lots of beer to do all that moving around. I have been curious about Blaze King and the thermostat, but I have no problem loading on 24 hour schedule in the milder weather so I'm happy.
