    I have one the 22 ton model and love it the ram on mine rest on the wedge and the bolt is used to pull the wedge backwards. This splitter rocks .imo

    Ah, that would explain the reviewer who said their ram ripped through the wedge holes when it hung up on extraction. I didn't see where that would occur - I might stop again tomorrow to look for that.

    Lowes stood behind that reviewer with a replacement, but in any case if it doesn't extract, the lesson is don't use the force of the hydraulics to pull it free.
