Skip the fasteners on the center supports and block it up. Even lag bolts aren't enough.

Ok, I'll add blocks directly under the joists. I've got enough scraps to do this.

Just trying to figure out the roof. It will be steel, and I know the steel doesn't need much more than a skeleton of wood framing to set on. I'll take a look at your shed build T.Jeff Veal so I can figure it out. Good news is that I don't need treated wood for the roof. That treated 5/4 deck board is nearly impossible to buy now. The center Bay will be all deck boards for the floor. I have almost enough to do 1 Bay. There might be scraps our other wood to fill the rest in that I need. The 3/4" plywood will be on the two outside bays for the floor.

Will your roof line be straight run or will each bay have it's on roof?
Do you have carpenter bees there or other wood boring insects?
They love exposed spruce or pine timbers. That's why I usually use PT 2X4's for the roof structure.

Yup, I used standard pine lumber for framing the roof of mine...they have it all drilled full of holes! :hair:
I keep a can of Raid in the shed so I can blast 'em when I see 'em!
I go around and spray some Raid into the existing holes every once in a while too...about 50% of the time a PO'd and dying bee drops out of there in the next minute or two...:rootintootin:
Will the roof be all one level, or tiered to match the floors?

Each bay will have it's own roof. So three tiers with an over hang onto the next roof.

No we really don't have carpenter bees here.

5/4 deck boards are 75% of what I consume building my mud kitchens. I have seen a significant increase in availability at Lowes in the past few weeks. PT 2X4X8, there was about 600 in stock locally yesterday, I didnt take a close look at what they had, but for the first time in months, there were fr more full PT bays than empty. Check around to other stores, you may be able to find some.

The local lumber yard said they had no more 5/4 deck board and had no idea when they'd be getting more. It seems some Menards have the deck board, but are a HAUL away from me. Like I said, I can wait on those deck boards.

    Great....

I see there's a few products that can be added to paint that prevents bugs, except termites which we certainly don't have here. NBS 30. 45 bucks treats 5 gallons of paint. Going to paint it all brown of some sort anyways.

I was gonna say that you can buy the brush on treatment to touch up where you cut PT lumber...but I'm sure it would cost more than what you found there...

If it's pressure treated, you shouldn't have to touch up the cut ends.

Pressurized treated wood should have full treatment, all the way through. Right?
