So base that I've finally gotten around to building a wood shed, I thought I'd start a thread.

It will be 3 10' wide bays, that are 8' deep and about 8' tall. I'll use steel roofing on it. I've got a majority of the wood I'll need for the build, but I'll be needing more pressure treated 4x4's. I was able to get a lot of PT lumber from the cottage instead of buying all of the wood.

Even then, what I bought they either day was over $400.

    Here's my pile of wood.

The load I bought from Menards this week

I'm going to be building it like a deck, on Deck blocks to not make it considered a building.
That way the town had nothing to say about it.

Decking will be 3/4" plywood that I got from the cottage. I think most of it was actually from when we lived in California, because it has the moving truck tags on a few pieces.
I was going to use 5/4 x 6" deck boards, but this plywood was free.

I weed wacked the area today 20200712_193429(1).jpg Yes, there's a slight incline on the area, but I'll do each 10' long area as it's own level, so it will have a little tiered look to it. I'll need to check for the actual slope, but it shouldn't be more than a foot per 10'.

Each of the 3 bays will have around a 5 cord capacity, so filling this would get be to the 3 year plan.

I see I'll need to move the pile of lumber. It will be in the way of the first bay. Oops.

I got a nice piece to finish off the center bay at the top in front, right under the roof. An old 2 man cross cut saw that was my grandpa's that was in the old cabin that was built in the 40's.

Only built that big one. Got some of the material back in late Sept. I think the 4x4's and 2x6 I got then was $400 or so. Took me awhile to get it done. I like your idea of the cross cut saw. I may borrow that idea.
 can't wait to see your build.

I don't remember who owned it originally, got it when we cleaned out my aunt's old barn. It had been well used. Thanks for the idea. 0713200814_HDR.jpg

It will be 5 cord each bay if it's stacked 8' tall. I've got a feeling it might be taller as the roof will at least be 9' if not 10' tall. Good thing I'm 6'4".

Ooooooooooh, 6'4" tall and a crosscut hanging on the front, you'll be able to split, stack and get a haircut all at the same time!
