Yeah that's SOP for tree guys... Usually they don't get paid to make firewood. They get paid to make stuff dissapear. The faster they do it the more time for Beer-thirty. I don't necessarily agree with it but it is what it is. Chippers that will eat up to 18-19" diameter are quickly becoming the norm: Great way to score wood is to approach a tree service like Adam did. They are usually too busy to sell firewood and are happy to dump wood if you have an easy access site to dump. Outstanding Score Adam! Stoked for you!
Wood Score? Assuming the question mark in the thread title is sarcasm?! Should read: Wood Score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The ? mark was before anything got dumped. Been told that I'd get wood before & the guy never showed. These seem very professional & good to their word. They're gonna get a nice gift card to the local eatery.
If I can see out a window I'm not overwhelmed, If I gotta get a dozer & make more flat I'll do that too. I've got a neighbor that'll let me dump in his lot too. Literally right next door. If I can cut in my backyard for a few years I'm ok with that.
3-4 weeks depending on weather. Stopped by the site today, & there's some really nice firewood sized trees in that path. This is looking good.
That is absolutely fantastic. I’m happy for you, in regards to the wood supply and the good neighbor.
I did consider that, but most of the trees are along the road with a fence line. I'm guessing metal is gonna be an issue, we'll see.
Barcroftb every time I see the Bandit machinery I laugh because we constantly get calls from people thinking they are calling Bandit. Although suddenly as of late it seems we aren't getting quite so many calls. It stems from the font they use in on their cards and brochures and no doubt invoices. One of the numbers should be a 5 and it looks like a 6 if you don't look close and our numbers are almost identical so they end up calling us. I've even been cussed out a few times when folks thought they got hold of bandit. But I fix them. I found out they have an 800 number so anyone who calls here gets the 800 number from us.
Well, they dropped one load & told they'll cut & pile for a few days, then haul steady. I'm thinking it's gonna pan out. Got a nice load of Oak so far.
That's darn sweet.....right now I'd just love to see the rain go away so I could get out through the hay fields to cut.
Boy, dunno 'bout where you cut, but over here it is so soft that there will be no offroad driving with a pickup for a long time unless the ground freezes again!
Thats pretty awesome. I would love to have a score like that. I would make all kinds of lumber and firewood. Sounds like its panning out, you could have firewood ready to go for awhile!
Pretty soft but if we could get about a week of good sun I could get into one of the places I cut I think.
Most places on our land is not soft; maybe a bit greasy in spots. Good thing about living on sand. But, you'll remember some of the water we had last spring as you came shortly after the heavy rains. We do have some water standing down by the creek and also some water not far from where chipper got his tractor stuck. I took our tractor through there with no problem yesterday and certainly no problem with the atv.
