No - actually while the roof is screwed to the ends, it’s not needed to hold the ends in place. The 2x4 uprights are inserted into the cinder blocks at the ground, that holds the ends from collapsing.
From my experience allowing the uprights at such an extreme angle either breaks the uprights at knots or tips the block over. Or the blocks break. You'd think the weight of the wood would be enough downward force on the blocks to overcome the sideways force on the uprights, but it rains, the ground gets soft ... I started to insert shims to keep the uprights more upright after I had a few problems.
