This may not be the right forum, but WTH. Is there discussion thread about these wood pellet grills in here? They look very interesting compared to gas grills. One thing I wonder why their wood pellet is SO expensive??
Hey Geek, yes, the topic has been brought up. Englander has a nice one. TIMBER RIDGE PELLET GRILL/SMOKER As for the pellets, the regular pellets we burn in the stoves work just fine.....it's the "flavored" ones that are $$$$
Thanks. I saw one at Costco but then I saw a Rec Tec brand online and it is really nice. I didn't know Englander was also selling those....will check it out but Englander may not get my first vote...
The Englander pellet grill is very rugged and the parts are inexpensive. It does smoke or sear. No WiFi just yet though. Englander Smoke-N-Sear 788 sq. in. Pellet Smoker and Grill 21-PG100 at The Home Depot - Mobile If you want a pellet grill built like a Sherman Tank there is nothing better than a Yoder!!! I have a friend that owns one. Here is their competition model!!! Yoder Smokers | YS640 Pellet Competition Cooker If you want total control of your pellet smoking then the Bob Grillson premium app pellet smoker is very good! Thanks Don for the info. WOW, over $2k for a grill...!! I saw a Rec Tec that looks really nice and is about $998 REC TEC Wood Pellet Grill (RT-680) Reviews seem like a well built unit with PID computer.
You can as long as the pellet mill didn't use diesel and such as a die lube....unless you like the taste of diesel
GMG grills have WiFi / remote for far less than 5k. I consider GMG and Treager more of an entry level grill though as compared to most of the others that are out there.
I disagree.... the food grade pellets are more about food safety than flavor. You don't want bits of plastic or nonfood friendly woods like pine in your smoker.
I have the englander, I cook everything from smoked jerky, smoked ribs brisket and chickens, to seared steaks and kabobs. I couldn't be happier with it. I like the trawler pellets but they aren't cheap. I noticed better heat output and flavor. If you hunt around you can find some good deals buying cooking pellets in bulk from small manufacturers....
i run one of our smoke and sear grills at home, of course im biased. a great site for info on them and just about every brand out there is a forum that deals specifically with pellet grills, www.pelletheads.com
My grandson has a Traeger.... he's had it for several years and uses it year around here in WI. He loves it.
starting to get a little time to play though my schedule is a bit different now. I am no longer running the customer service department, though I will continue to be working with them on a lot of things. I've taken over Corie's old office in the lab, working in R&D now.
