Well, not sure how much it eats compared to others, but we run ours from 10/15 to 12/15 on splitter scraps and junk mail, then wood from that lean to through 3/15, then until 4/15 with splitter scraps and junk mail

It does domestic hot water now for just a family of two as kids are all gone, and heats 5000 sf with radiant floor heat. So guessing 90 days of main winter it burns 10 cords. And that is of course many different types of hardwood. This year is first empty nest year, so may reduce heat in some areas of house also.

If I had all oak and locust probably 8 cord would do.

But I love to feed that thing, love the smell when it's burning, warm floors, and it beats going to the gym. I am told there are worse habits!

I bet some holiday fruitcake would heat your place for a while.

Old man has a 6048 and it eats like a beast. Never measured it's consumption . Doesn't really matter as all the wood it eats is delivered to our chip/wood dump about 90% cut to length that will fit in the door. Mix slab and pallet wood with the rounds and it works good. Also gets boxes of junk mail and magazines.

No, it's mostly scraps, but I bet I do accumulate a pickup load of junk mail, cereal boxes, pizza boxes, phone books etc.

Hey, some of those have some alkeehol in 'em, don't they? It'd burn. If you knew how many calories it has you could figure out how many BTUs it would make too!

I burn about 10 cords a year in my CB, and that includes the scraps and junk mail. 4000 sf radiant heat plus DHW year-round.

IMG_3430.JPG IMG_3431.JPG IMG_3429.JPG Got in three hours tonight, built up the for sale pile and cut my way back to the OWB

Have enough scraps and sawdust to last quite a while. Supposed to be colder here by weekend

One thing I've never done is night splitting. Got to try it sometime and see if I can be productive.
