    It's burned. But I did whack er open. Still don't know, but my living room is 77 degrees!

    I was going to say, from the first pics, that it didn't look like wood at all. Looked like oatmeal.
    But I'll confirm oak now! :p

    Yeah, it's oak. Gotta be pretty dry, got it already split the summer I moved in (July 2014). Been under cover since I got it. Also, it's 5 degrees here, there's always a huge coal bed for me to burn down!
