That's a keen eye right there. Yes, it was white oak mostly. There was one round that when bucked spilled out like 400 ants so that was all rotted inside. Then another crotchy nasty piece, and mostly just cookies/cutoffs from trimming rounds down to 16" and also debris from using the splitter. I had saved up 2 buckets of cutoffs/chunks but nobody wanted them so off to the trading program they went. I just have nowhere to store them long term so once I get 2 buckets full I make a trip to the dump if I can't find a home for them.
No fire pit? I don’t recall where you live in NY, and that could be the reason you perhaps don’t burn old wood outside, but man... I’d hate to throw out wood that I spent time working down.
I have a firepit. I just have more than enough firepit wood. And these are the odds and ends that don't stack well at all and I'd just rather have splits.
But to your point, the racist neighbor complained about my firepit usage.......even though they have a firepit. So unless I really need to use it, I'll take the less polluting alternative and take it to the dump.
