Dave, I'm sure you've posted the info some where, sometime, but how low can you run the King, and for how long?
Have got 2 days of heat, low setting good for shoulder burns 40° - 50° 30° - 40° get 24 hr burns On a 18 hr burn now, up to 28° outside Glass get blackened on low slow burns
Almost Daylight , look out the door & this is what I see : looks like about 3" Should go back to bed & wake up in April LOL
Got the plow on, Cleaned the driveway Shoveled the deck Then cleaned off pallets & wood so I could start splitting.
80% chance of snow flurries today. less than an inch, just enough to make everything slick. up to 32° now with 12 mph winds, Snow slowly dissipating, down to about an inch Forecast for Sunny tomorrow, if the roads clear up , I may get in a bike ride
That's been my experience as well. I haven't successfully maintained more than 24 hour burn cycles with softwood no matter how big i split it. Throw a couple chunks of hardwood in with it maybe 1/3 of the load and 48 hour burn cycles this time of year go fine. Every time I think it might be time for a boiler, I come back to how simple that big steel box in the middle of the living space is and so versatile with that big firebox/tstat combo.
19° this AM on a 15 hour burn, house 72° Clear, may get some solar gain this afterrnoon. Prob add wood so can get a full load tonight. Probaby not gonna melt the snow, no bike rides fo a while
