At least he did not suggest leaving the stove door open to help dry the wood below

At least YouTube allows one to post comments, unless the one posting the video turns off comments.....

Ok, I see the heat shield against the wall, there is suppose to be at least a one inch air gap between the shield and the wall.

That really depends on whether the stove is at proper CTC or not.
From the vid, it looks like he should have done what you say, due to being too close to the wall. Very hard to tell in a vid or pic.

If you have spare time during the winter, I recommend installing another stove. Continue to install additional stoves until free time is eliminated. :D

Probably want to only have 30-45 minute burn time so you can constantly check that your shack isn't burning down.

I agree with that statement but he seems to know more than some who think they know a lot.
Laying wood at the base of the stove is not an issue, my dog lays at the base of my stove and he has not burnt up yet.

Why the F does a guy from Oregon thinks he have the expertise when he's only been living in that damm shackahall for about a year? 100 bucks he only goes up there on the weekends to "brush up on his survival skills". Someone who does this as an everyday thing doesnt post this video kinda crap! They just do it and never give it a second thought!!!another 100 bucks he read a book then fiddled with his stove and then took a video. I saw a couple of his videos posted here then saw a few more from the YouTube, I didn't think he was merely speaking from experience.
Id rather listen to you guys who have the greater part of 20-60 years of burning behind ya. :salute:

I put enough wood in to go about 12 hours , don't want your pipe going cheery red too often  don't want the house at 100 °F either , Not an air tight stove
