Wisewaypelletstove- what do you think??

Raybonz linked the site in another thread, so I looked it up. Looks like a hot "chutes-n - ladders" board game , but I like it. Funny thing, so does the wife. What do you folks think about this thing? (thanks for the link, Ray)

I think I read that some were having problems with burn-back on those. If you are thinking of getting one, you better research the crap out of it.

 

There was a lot of discussion about those on another forum last year. It's a neat concept, but I don't know that I would trust it in my house unattended. Maybe for a cabin in the woods somewhere, but even then I'd feel safer with a wood stove.

 

Back burn... see, that's why I ask before getting all excited about a new, funky concept stove.
Love to hear more input on this, wife is interested because she likes pellet stoves. She likes the - fill the hopper, walk away- aspect. I like the no electrical usage aspect of this one.

 

Here's a couple of videos I found on YouTube of a guy who bought one back in Dec.. The 2nd & 3rd videos are the most interesting. IMO, some of his ash build-up is related to the long horizontal run he has, and the temp indication is changing due to the temp. probe getting insulated by the ash coating. Needs to really wack the sides to loosen ash while cleaning.

Also, I'd be concerned with CO as it seems he didn't silicone any of the exhaust joints.

 

It's basically a Rocket Stove that uses pellets instead of wood… search "rocket stove" and you'll get lots of info on how to build your own.

 

Nice little camp/emergency stove Krooser. Easy to make. Could be easily modded to have removable legs & pot holder for easy transport.

Now, stop messin with Youtube and go fix your snowblower!!!

Burn back issues etc. On another forum there was a dealer that spoke of having to take a number of them back and dropping the distributor.

Just man up and buy another Quad

 

Heh, don't see another Quad in my future.
I should re-visit the thought of another pellet stove a little more though. I've got that plant about 10 min. from me in Silverplume, make getting them a little easier. Cost is the biggest factor.

 

I hear you. If you need a cheap insert I can get you covered. For a free standing unit I'll have to keep my eye out but I do come across them....

 

No insert. This will be a free stander- new install.
I'd like it to be able to heat water and cook off of, sorta rules out the pellet stoves unless I've missed something.

 

Yeah I don't see you getting much hydronic heat off a pellet stove lol And you definitely won't be cooking on one.....

 

I accidentally cooked a pair of gonads on mine once or twice!!
