I'm at about 5 cord and still burning. Looks like it's about over though. I might have enough ready to burn for next year. I really need a truck Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Im at 6.5 cords, I burned 5 this year and was planning on that being my average... but so much for that. Its been a loooooong winter here. I have 10-12 cord in pole length logs down the road, once it dries up I want to get it up here so I can have it split and stacked... and Im probably going to grab another 5 cord or so in slab this spring just to have on hand. Our electric usage is next to nothing, in our area it is nothing to have 4-600 per month electric bills... ours are around 100 (no gas available).
About a cord of Alligator Juniper and less than a cord of mixed hardwoods. I used more natural gas in March than January and it wasn't for lack of stove usage. The weather has been strange this year for everyone regardless of location.
I think we can say that the stove is shut down for the season... if I had to estimate, we probably burned 5-5.5 cords.. don’t really measure it and often mix in recently gathered dead and down or dead standing wood to make my stacks last longer. According to Weather Data Depot, this past winter, at least temperature wise, was the third coldest in the last 10 years for our area. It was outpaced by 2013-14 and 2014-15. This of course doesn’t take into account differences in solar gain due to cloud cover or wind effects on heating requirements. I used a balance point of 60 degrees. In looking at the data, it was also the second coldest May in the last 10 years... Weather Data Depot: free downloads of heating & cooling degree days
