Burned about $900 of propane and sold 49K of firewood. Will trade firewood for propane if I could.

Even though the BTU difference isnt that much percentage wise between say cherry and soft maple vs oak/hickory/ash I swear the burn time is double at least. First year burning I burnt alot of spruce and poplar and went through an insane amount of wood.

Much less this year. Usually just under 3 cord; this year slightly less than 2 cord.

Sold 185 facecords of cherry, hickory, maple, red and white oak. Tips from Oct-Jan average about $20 a delivery. About 30% ahead of last year to date.

I put 50-60 hours a week into firewood. Subtract about 20% for fuel and everything else. So not really setting the world on fire.

2.9 cords on a fairly warm winter by our standards. Haven't had a need to start my 2nd stove (only fire it when it gets bitterly cold) in 2 years now. My consumption is definitely getting less and less for the last 4 years

Overall.. I think we're just under 2 cord this year. Normally burn 3 to 3+ per year.

Also less as Jill has been hospitalized since 3/13.. So mainly overnight fires as needed.

Probably about 25 gallons of fuel oil as well.

Chilly house this morning.. 54°F.. so a fire is going now.. 74° and comfy.

54 inside is downright cold…I would consider 64 chilly. Haha

Even when we were running on fuel oil.. I always had the overnight temps at 55°.

Not even (EDIT..completely) because of cost.. but because I sleep best if the temps are around 60° to 65°. summer night temps are the worst.. I lay and sweat, makes it nearly impossible to sleep.

When burning in winter.. I keep the door to the bedroom closed so it stays cold.

I always turn on Jill's side of the heated blanket an hour before bedtime. It's gotta be hella cold for me to turn on my side.

Perfect sleeping conditions for me is around 60° or below.. no light leakage.. and absolute silence.

Unsurprisingly.. I don't have those conditions often.

Sitting doing nothing, 70 is cool. Sweat shirt like.
Sleeping, 62 64 ish is good.
Getting up with 64 means a fire will be lit. Unless temperature and solar gain is in store for the day.

We're not done burning either. Eating through uglies from the shorts-shed. We're at 5.5 cord, I'll be surprised if we break 6 with fires over the next 5 weeks.

    Time to clean the chimney.
