Still burning here too...a fire all day today, it's 45 and breezy. A nice low fire all day. Maybe I shouldn't have taken so much back down. OTOH it won't take much to bring a couple armloads up by hand, which will last a few days.
Looks like I may get to fire mine back up for a few days. Next few days are in the 50's and it's supposed to get down to 27 one night this weekend.
God only knows! im always bringing more in and stacking it so i have no clue how much i burnt thru another factor I don’t just burn firewood i burn cords of slab wood from the mill and i burned about 100 trunk loads of heat treated pine cut offs from work and all the uglys and chunks from processing firewood in my driveway all winter, this year was the first year my wife started helping with loading the stove when im at work…my guess would be 6-7
I didn’t do very well keeping track this year, but I feel it was less than usual. Didn’t burn last week with the heat but am this week at least for the overnights.
2nd year burning here to heat a 10'000 sq ft woodshop via an OWB, I burnt 20 cords (60 facecord for my fellow Canadians). The system was forecast to but around 25, so I am happy, I have wood left over and just getting to replenishing my storage!
Here in western ky burned about the same between 3.5-4.0 cords!! But being warmer than normal winter and temperatures yo-yoing up and down we wasted a lot of wood as we would often burn with house in the high 70’s, turn the stove fan off and open windows just to keep the stove going so wouldn’t have to relight!! Frustrating burning season at times……
Almost, but not quite 8 face cords thus far, and that is close to my average. With all the dead ash and hoarding I've done, I gave away about 14 face cords last season.
I think about 7 through the owb hard to tell exactly plus the quality of most wood I burn in that is low - soft, rotten, punky. I remember throwing in pieces with one hand easily when in reality, I should have struggled with two hands.
Probably aroubd 2.5-3 its hard to say since I pulled from different stacks and also had a ton of uglies. Did burn alot of oak this year.
If I had to burn pine and spruce like you guys up north I don't know if I could keep up. So far I burn only oak, hickory, and ash gathered from scrounging all year. I've built up about a 3 year supply. So now I can focus on a wood shed this year, maybe. I would need 2-3 times the volume of wood to make the same total btus with the evergreen stuff.
