I work in Summit Co., so I have to drive the corridor and the 'tunnels' everyday. I'm already tired of the ski-traffic. Mini-vans with California plates, in the left lane, going 30 mph. I tend to be hoarse by the time I get to work. To modify an old joke-" John gets into his car and 20 minutes later, sailors come running out".
Heh, if you only knew how many times I've said- "Heeeer'ss Johnny!!" on my way to work, you'd freak, and laugh. JB
Snow kinda' freaks me out a bit. I like it but it makes things a little more dangerous. Walking up and down stairs, slipping on sidewalks, sliding into other cars and off roads....
Dave, Georgetown is about 10 minutes from my doorstep. Dependant on road conditions. edit- Was she around when the hill above Silver Plume let loose and wiped out the highway?
Lives in Virginia now Left God's country , for crowds & muggy summers. Go figure. Might-a been the big one , Was thinking they mentioned smaller ones , kinda a few every year thing. Couldn't run off the roads in the winter due to the 6' wall of snow on both sides.
Now that there is construction and congestion we are starting to see a lot of ski traffic on 285. Lots of folks comin gover Hoosier pass from Breck to 285
(I can't get the highlight/quote thing to work for me, dammit) Luckily, I'm west of the twin-tunnels so that mess is something I don't have to deal with. One of our welders lives in Fairplay, he's seen a lot more traffic also. But, by most accounts, Hoosier is still better than Eisenhower, when you want to get home at night. As far as traffic goes. Too soon in the season to talk about the "Granby" loop. That is worst-case-scenario. 3 hours to cover 30 lineal miles. IF Berthoud is open.
