Dang 14 cords!!! Must be some good stuff if he wanted that much! :makeitrain"

Sorry Gary, I couldn't resist on that typo. When you have good product, word gets around. New customer of mine bought his third 1/2 cord of nuggets yesterday and asked about next Winter. He was disappointed I wont have much for him. Go figure as its a feast or famine with them and I gave my friend a couple cords just to be rid of them.

Suppose I could go crazy hoarding them in the next month or two. I have a couple regulars who get a load of them every Winter.

OK guys, you caught me. It was only 1/4 cord. Sorry about the typo! If he bought 14 cords that would have been all the processed wood I have and most of the logs!

I haven't done any roadside stand sales update lately so here's the tally from last week. 2 bags of smoking wood, 6 loose stacks of smoking wood, mixed hardwood stacks included a 2'x2' and 2 each 2'x3' and 2'x4'. Also 1/4 cord of shorts and uglies. I've only been putting limited amounts of wood out because I'm running really low on seasoned wood. Now that the weather is turning around I plan to get out and do some cutting.

Lest people think I did nothing all winter, here's a summary. This is my neighbor's tree that came down on my property. Obviously I did the right thing and bucked it up.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

I've also been cutting downed trees in another neighbor's woods. Most of them are fairly far from the trails so getting the rounds out has been a challenge.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Between yesterday and today, I've hauled 3 loads out. Most has been hickory, followed by ash, cherry and a bit of mulberry. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Nice work, brother. Looks like most of that is close to being dry now. Way to go.

Way to keep after it Gary. We were snowed in for several weeks here so no wooding was done. Playing catch up hoarding now.

How has the stand been doing?

Wanted to thank you for the cottonwood drying tip. Helped get me though the Winter with bundle sales. I added one split to each bundle. Usually 6-7 in each. I had a half cord CS around Labor day that dried nicely and was used up. Another load from late October is being used now. I stacked it in a spot that gets good sun and wind.
I ran out of decent dry wood for bundles. Recent scrounge of dead ash saved me.

Today's 30 bundle delivery to a regular puts me over 700 for the year. DSCF0701.JPG Three separate smokers bundle sales for 2026 so far. A couple are repeat customers. I added beech this year. Recent post by a FHC member mentioned sassafras for smoking and I may add that as well.

That was the purpose of getting the dead and down logs cut up. Some can go straight to the stand and most of the rest will be ready in a month or 2.

I'm in the same boat. January was a complete loss of February wasn't much better. I'm behind at least 2 cords of production.

Sales have been pretty strong considering the weather. I've even sold 16 small loose stacks of smoking wood and 8 bags. Those sales don't usually pick up until the weather gets warmer. Overall I'm refilling the stand once or twice a week. That will probably increase to 3 times next month.

Glad the cottonwood worked out for you! I wish I had a little more of it right now. You're still the king of bundle sales! Let me know how the sassafras works out. I have a few pieces that I might bag and try it out.

I will. I scored a some today and split. Ill save the heartwood for smoker sales. Just need to get them under 20%. I have a few pieces dry ill offer up to one of my regulars. Sold him the plum I had scrounged. He also bought beech this year. Need to start a new bundle listing on FBM.
