I finished processing some hickory yesterday. Some of the rounds were a little too heavy so I used the skid steer's muscle instead of killing my back. Much better than carrying the rounds 20' to the splitter. Sent from my motorola edge plus 5G UW (2022) using Tapatalk
Got a mixed bag of hardwoods dropped off by my tree service buddy yesterday. Time to make splits and sawdust. Sent from my motorola edge plus 5G UW (2022) using Tapatalk
Got this week's load from my tree service buddy bucked and stacked. I had seen Hipa chains on several YouTube channels so I decided to try them out on my Echo CS-590. These things are aggressive and rip through the wood. I'm impressed. Sent from my motorola edge plus 5G UW (2022) using Tapatalk
After church and lunch yesterday I made a little time to do some splitting including making kindling for small bags that I sell. Hope everyone had a great Easter! Sent from my motorola edge plus 5G UW (2022) using Tapatalk
Thank you! It's probably not quite as neat as it seems but I definitely have a plan and method to my madness.
I did some Spring cleaning over the weekend. I used this rack made of pallets and ratchet strapped to the skid steer to move the grass to my burn pit. It was easy to dump and kept everything neat and tidy. Sent from my motorola edge plus 5G UW (2022) using Tapatalk
I've built dozens of racks in various configurations. Pallets and plentiful and free so I use lots of them.
Delivery of mixed hardwoods to a new lake customer about 10 minutes from me. He also took a bag of hickory chunks I "happened" to have with me. He's planning on another load later in the summer. Sent from my motorola edge plus 5G UW (2022) using Tapatalk
Sales at the roadside stand have picked up this month. The biggest movers have been bundles and $20 loose stacks. The bagged and loose smoking wood customers are starting to come out of hibernation as well. The first week of the month ended up at $230 in sales and last week brought in $250. That was with no deliveries - strictly picked up at the stand. My main focus is getting geared up for Memorial Day weekend. I know I don't have enough dry wood to sell. Last year, that week resulted in almost $1K in sales. I'm planning to buy at least 3 truck loads before the holiday gets here. Then the challenge will be keeping the stand filled up.
Thank you sir! I picked up a load last night. Trying to source more. My goal is to get the roadside stand packed full by this weekend.
I reached out to 5 sellers on Marketplace trying to buy split, seasoned wood. 2 got back to me and only 1 was home. The wood was advertised as oak. I found 2 pieces, along with 3 pieces of hackberry. The rest was ash. I was actually very pleased. It makes great bundle wood. I split some as soon as I got home. Sent from my motorola edge plus 5G UW (2022) using Tapatalk
Nice that you were able to find some dry and it wasn't oak. Yeah, Summer time fire pit season should be ramping up with the warmer temps. Gotta keep that stand stocked!
What little oak I did find definitely was NOT dry. I have confirmed that nearly every firewood seller in my county knows nothing about . That's good news because I can buy their "junk" wood cheap and, with a little more processing, turn it into acceptable "premium" firewood.
I love how so many sellers think everything is oak....but as you said, you are doing great getting ash.
My favorite is the posts advertising "oke" firewood. But for $50 a truckload, you get what you pay for. Sent from my motorola edge plus 5G UW (2022) using Tapatalk
Small blowdown in the back yard was a nuisance because I had to mow around it for a few weeks. Now it's about to get split and added to the stacks. Sent from my motorola edge plus 5G UW (2022) using Tapatalk
