Got a little present from a tree service buddy today. Appears to be juniper. Smells wonderful. [IMG]

Not sure if anyone is interested in stats but I track my sales year-to-date to compare year over year sales as well as what is selling and what isn't so I can make adjustments to the product line. Here are the more popular items:
    174 bundles
    69 $20 loose stacks
    51 $40 loose stacks
14 small oak stacks (smoking wood)
13 small cherry stacks (smoking wood)
Bear in mind that with only a handful of exceptions, every bit of this is picked up by the customer at my self-serve roadside stand. I have a few other species of smoking woods as well as bagged mini splits, a couple different sizes kindling packs and bulk shorts and uglies.

My tree service buddy showed up again just after I got home. I went out to see what he was up to. The dump truck was heaped and there was a little more in the chipper. All I saw was cedar, and I really don't need it. Then I saw oak leaves sticking up from the bottom and felt a little better. My wood yard is now maxed out.[IMG]

Well the wood chip pile has grown. Another tree service I hadn't heard from for quite a while reached out asking if I could still take wood chips. I explained that my wood yard was filled to capacity but I could take a load on the east side of my driveway. The previous pile was on the west side.

You may be able to tell from the photo that they dumped it on the other pile, spilling about 5' out into the driveway. This would have been no problem if I could use the skid steer but it's still at my in-laws farm. So I went out this morning with a scoop shovel and got to work. It's better now compared to the picture.[IMG]

I’ve learned you have to be VERY clear when telling guys where to dump. I try to put cones out and take pictures even if I’m not expecting a load so if they do reach out I can tell them to find the cone or send the picture. A lot of times you talk to the boss but he’s not the one driving the truck.

True story. The boss is always the one who texts but you never know who will show up (and if they understand directions). Normally I have a spot cleared and a sign for chip dumps but the whole place is buried in logs and rounds. I had to go with an alternative location and wasn't prepared. I'll get that squared away in the next few weeks hopefully.

The splitter is back to full operating capacity. It now sports a new Predator motor from Harbor Freight. It is a bit more powerful and noticeably faster. I split several rounds of hickory, cherry and oak last night. Probably close to a tote. I'm back to enjoying splitting time again.[IMG]

It's been a productive weekend so far. I got some oak cut this morning. Between last night and today I split about 3/4 cord for the roadside stand and bundle wood. Also got the whole yard mowed. Time for a nap.[IMG][IMG]

I made a big hole in the log pile in preparation for another delivery and split 1/2 rack of oak that I cut Saturday. Hickory and cherry will probably be next on the splitter.[IMG][IMG]

Split this partial tote of hickory and about 1/2 of another plus about 1/2 rack of cherry today.[IMG]

I made an unfortunate discovery when I got home from work Monday. My firewood for sale sign was missing. I looked all over but it was nowhere to be found. All that remained was a foot print in the wood chips. A new sign has been ordered.[IMG][IMG]

That's crazy, any other wood sellers around that might want it gone?

Or the thief is about to start selling firewood?

How will you secure the new sign?

Pretty much ALL of them. I don't do the biggest volume but I'm sure I have the highest profit margin in my area.

I've been waiting on a tree service to bring a couple loads of logs. Supposed to drop the first of the week. I haven't dealt with them before and I think they sell firewood as well. Only a theory at this point...

As long as the thief is selling $5 bundles and $20 stacks, he/she is all set. That's what I had printed on the blank portion of the sign.

I bought a new yard sign on eBay. Faster than a local sign company. I'm going to secure it to a wood post so it will be harder to walk away with. And numerous cameras are being installed.

That $%^&$ about the sign. Bolt the chit out of it to the posts.

There's a guy selling small volumes that i pass and posted a sign about owing guns and security cameras. Ill have to get a pic next time o go by.

The new sign will be fastened securely. But if people want to be jerks...I will get them on camera and gladly share with authorities. I have no tolerance for thieves and vandals.

That sign is awesome! I'd probably get turned in to the authorities if I posted something like that. But I have a skid steer and a big burn pit out back so...
