Bear in mind, that week was an anomaly! If it was always like that I'd be out of wood and have to hire help!

Possibility. But I'd prefer one without the snow.:D

Yeah thta'd be even nicer. I like the accessability factor there. Easy to rotate inventory and store those "unexpected" scores.

It's a bit of a mess currently. The good news is processed wood gets moved behind the barn to season. Now that snow is melted I can get back to bucking what's in the yard and get things organized.

Time for a few quick catch up posts. I got back from vacation Saturday afternoon to find the roadside stand nearly empty. I spent the evening getting everything filled and organized.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

On top of that, I also had a visit from a tree service. Looks like about a half cord and wood chips as well.[IMG]

I ran about a tank through the Echo CS-590 and got about 1/4 cord done. I still have at least 5 cords total of logs in the wood yard that I'm trying to get cleaned up. Still lots of splitting too![IMG]

Wood that will burn this year is my absolute favorite! I've never split the stuff before so we'll see how it does.

Yeah fast drying stuff is nice. I mix 1/3 SS with other wood in bundles. One customer gets mostly SS in their half cord. Elderly couple that burn for ambiance.

I've been using cottonwood for that purpose. Some in every bundle plus 15% in the stacks. I keep it that low just because most of what is sell is in the mid-BTU range. I only mix in a little oak. The rest I keep for smoking wood.

I had a little score of it last May. Thought it was tulip poplar, but turned out to be CW. I mixed one split in the bundles and its all gone. Dang that stuff dries fast. I keep a CW split in the truck and show customers the difference in firewood. Ill only use oak if i happen upon decent splits (usually just heartwood) in my multiyear oak stacks. Found a bunch in some stacks and have been pulling them out, splitting smaller and mixing in. Bundles are 8x8" and have 6-8 pcs. Bundles splits are smaller than cordage wood. Bundle market slowing with Spring here. Ive thought of getting mesh bags and retailing bundles next Winter. No stand, but in volume.

When I get cottonwood, I say split today, burn tomorrow! :dex::whistle:

Bundles are hit and miss but fairly strong year around. I'm focusing on really small quantities more as time goes on. I'm delivering 4 bags of smoking splits after work (2 hickory, 1 cherry and 1 oak). I toss in some kindling with every order. I'll make the same amount as 14 bundles of mixed hardwoods. And it stows neatly in the mini van.

Only time ive scored CW and probably wont take more unless in a pinch. The last few months of my cutting Asplundh work has filled up a lot of bundle inventory. Four cords stacked here. Hopefully ready for use in 9-12 months.

Finishing up filling another shed at storage with bundle wood. Enough for 400-425 bundles at current estimate. Maybe another face cord to fit in there. Trying to keep bundle wood under cover better than cordage. Gets the TLC treatment.

Awesome on the smoker wood. Too bad you couldnt do that more often. Ive only sold a few bundles of cherry. Not much demand for it here. Tried on CL once with no takers.

I envy your inventory of bundle wood! I make a little every time I split but I couldn't make 100 bundles with what I have. Hopefully I can bump the inventory over the next few months.
