I've had my CHL since 2004. I travel a lot and never had any problems with out of state cops. Although, I usually rent a car when I go to Canada since I don't want to risk having a live round floating around in my personal vehicle. Never a hassle going into Canada, Jamaica or Belize either.
RANGE DAY !! She did great !! I was really proud of her. edit:- She really did well. I. Have. Big. Smile. On. Face. right now. Out of 9 people in the class, she scored #2 high score. I'm very happy.
Congrats!!! If you can talk her into taking a basic defensive pistol class I would encourage it. I have been around firearms my entire life and while I could shoot very accurately, I didn't know what I didn't know when it to employing my sidearm. Drawing from cover, type of draw, malfunction drills, shooting under stress, using cover and concealment, plus knowing the difference, etc etc. Most of this should be addressed if you have a decent local instructor. Places like Valor Ridge in TN Valor Ridge, TDI and even Front Site are great choices if you want to make a weekend of it. Personally, I'd stay away from a guy in TN named Yeager, but that's just me. If she's not up to that, there are lots of YouTube channels were you can pick out a couple of tips and go spend a few hours focusing on those at the range. The only problem with that is the potential for ingraining some bad habits that are hard the correct down the road. One biggie with me was scanning after engagement of my target. It seemed silly to be looking around when I assumed there was no threat at the training range. Instructor helped me get over it by saying, "do you totally trust people you've just met while they are loading mags behind you"? Yes, there where instructors back at the table, but that comment was enough for me to see a "reason" to scan. Just little things like that can help with the mindset it takes to carry a firearm.
