I think my grumpy butt should call it a night before I tick off somebody Sorry fellas I’m in a mood tonight
Thanks buddy.. Been a long day and I admit I tipped a bit of liquid pain killer tonight. I was hurting pretty bad after this cold, icy and nasty day.....
yea, used stoves are very much like used cars.....can be a great deal if you know what you're doing, know what to look for, and know how to diagnose/fix it. I don't believe it matters what brand it is.....if someone is selling it, its usually for a reason, often related to owner expectations/experience. Sometimes the owner simply doesn't want to do the work required to keep one running....ie: they underestimated the amount of cleaning involved, lack technical expertise to clean it (yes, those folks do exist), or the evil salesperson led them to believe it was self-cleaning, like their oven.....heck, sometimes the stove is even just too small to meet their expectations. That being said, every broke down, used unit can be fixed....often with only a simple cleaning. A little due diligence on the buyers part will ensure that parts are still available, etc. Sometimes the prices these things are sold for are CHEAP!!!!! And.....HHT owns Quad, Harman, Heatilator......and make Pelpro. Same outfit. Sometimes its a dealer thing.....as a dealer, I say buy from a reputable dealer who has the wherewithal to service what they sell, OR, in lieu of that, a company who will deal directly with you, via their service department (Englander). Used? You're a bit more on your own, but evenso, a dealer in that brand is often available to make house calls, albeit for a charge.
I have had great service from used stoves... As mentioned earlier...as long as the stove is not a rust bucket they can be a great deal. Big issues are the condition of the firebox and tubes. A stove that has been run little and suffered a minor failure in one of the electronic components can be as good as a new one. One thing I never do is run any of our stoves on high heat settings... The thermal stress on the tubes and firebox takes a big toll on the lifespan of the unit. Having a stove that's already installed is a big plus (Every stove is slightly different as far as flue outlet position and a new unit will require a modification and more $$$$$$$) If the chassis is good, FIX IT
Pallet Pete If and when you think you've had enough with the PP60, my inexpensive option would be this.......more heat capacity and holds 120 lb. of pellets, and full factory warranty: 55-TRPAH - PELLET BURNING STOVE - 2,000 sq. ft. (Factory-refurbished)
Well pigs this is a great night indeed! I seceded in successing I found the broken solder point on the control board and cleaned then re soldered it! BAM it works again Now for the list of other issues I am sorry fellas I will read back through tonight I see a lot of good advice here!
That happens to all to us at some point. Several years ago I took an air purifier apart to get the on/off switch. The way this thing was built, there was no way it was going back together
And regarding the Harman experience, I would feel the same way. As LW pointed out ans we say here all the time, its all about your Dealer. Same in many products-much comes from who you buy from.
Just a reminder if you decide to dump that stove: TIMBER RIDGE - Brand New Factory Seconds or Manufacturer Refurbished S
Confusion has set in!? So I came home today to the fan blowing on the pellet stove and nothing else running. The fan died and I even checked for amp and got nothing.... It was dead for all intents and purposes. I shut it off a few days ago and haven’t touched it since. Is the computer screwed up? Must be...
I just hooked a plug to the fan and bypassed the circuit board guess what it works! Then I unplugged the PP60 to let it discharge all the electricity then plugged it back in and it took off again. Its done for
