    edit.. ^^^ Apply sarcasm here ^^^ :D

At least she wasn't in Texas, they'd have seized the vehicle and any cash and valuables she had under civil asset forfeiture laws there.

Thanks for that tidbit of information. The northeast is one section of the country I haven't visited. Maybe rent a car when I come to Maine so I don't get targeted?

I know a young lady, she may or may not be related, who has held a driver license in three states, and has not taken a driving test, ever! She is actually a good driver.

Edit: removed the video, I didn't intend it to be in the posting.

It took me getting pulled in on the Canadian side trying to leave, getting my truck tossed, all my belongings thrown out on the ground, my wife’s picture torn and my mini fridge smashed for me to say screw this... I’ve been in and out of Canada many times for different jobs but truck driving was the one that ended it for me... No interest in going back at all... I ended up refusing to put my belongings back in and sat in the runnin boards of my FLD and said you put it back. They did but with major irritation then told me to get out.

That is not the norm.. For example when I traveled to London Ontario hauling piggyback Volvos I met some of the nicest people I have ever met and even got to be on first name basis with all of them. This was back in 04 05 timeframe. I made that trip probably 30 times with mo issue what so ever...

Usually it’s harder getting back in the US side than leaving Canada for me that day they let me in no issue.

Point being it happens on both sides and this lady was doing 17 over the limit as a guest in another country and states. granted that’s granny speed on most freeways these days.  Try driving near Grand Rapids or Detroit holy racetrack! You can go 90, skip 3 lanes no blinker and drive on the median and not get pulled over most of the time!

If you support the fraternal order of police well you can get away with almost anything around here ( not kidding )

I hear ya Pete. Customs wise, I have never had a problem with the US Customs but have had several "jerk arounds" coming back into Canada. Have found that if your unlucky enough to draw a young female and some young male CBS officers, especially those of french origin, your likely to get a real run around.

I don’t remember who pulled me off anymore but I remember the guy who literally threw my fridge out the door and smashed it and in the process ripped my wife’s picture Total jerk... That entire process would have been forgotten about long ago if it wasn’t for the picture of my wife:whistle: odd how one little thing can make it stick!

On the flip side the lady at the booth while I was crossing over on the US side said did they toss you and I said yes to which she said I’m sorry dear have a better day. o_O

Talk about reversing roles! Usually the US was jerks and Canada was welcome come spend your money and good by come again:rofl:

Can't remember exactly what state it happened in, but...

Pulled over by a state trooper that was very mad at my rate of speed. "Too damm fast" was his description. He was so mad, his face was red and I had to cover my face to keep it from getting wet when he spoke (yelled) at me!

I just let him continue with his rant and after what seemed like about 2 minutes, he paused and asked "Well, what have you to say for yourself?"

I asked in a slow calm voice, "Sir, if I were to buy a couple of tickets for the State Policeman's ball, could we forget all about this mistake I made?"

"NO!" he screamed even louder......."State Police don't have balls!"

Some states (like Florida) require an IDP in conjunction with the current valid foreign driver's license.
If she was from French Canada she should have known you don't drive in the USA without the english version of your license.
Same with keeping only a paper copy of your passport; some places you can some places want the original on your person. You should always, always, always have a scanned copy of your passport in case you lose the original. It will help if/when you end up at an embassy.

You can tell when a mainstream media is dishing out fake news when they start a video with a logical fallacy like : "Woman arrested for being Canadian". (she wasn't arrested for being Canadian) Get ready for cherry-picked facts and half a story. Often a 'hate southern states' piece from WAPO or CNN. CBS is good for it too.

You've needed proof of a driver's license and proof of citizenship to cross both borders in either direction for several years now.
New enhanced licenses are going to be needed to cross state borders pretty soon too. Unless they change the rules, if your state's drivers license isn't compliant your driver's license may not be valid in other states.

I was once friendly with an old man who got his first driving ticket when he was 66 years old. Ha! He had never had a drivers license in all those years. The officer was simply amazed. He had stopped my friend for failure to stop at a stop sign but only gave a ticket for driving without a license. He paid the fine but never got a license and never again got stopped. Sadly he has passed away but I always think about that. And yes, I do miss the old fart; we were very good friends and he taught me much when I started working in the woods.

I was almost arrested in Michigan for driving a PERSONAL truck with a antique hit and miss engine on the bed. Because I had no DOT numbers or name on the side of the truck and obviously the machinery on the back can't be for personal use. After half a dozen cops showed up I finally said "document everything you said, arrest me and impound my truck...... I need the money. One of them made a call then one by one they left with the last one saying next time enter Michigan I should have DOT numbers.....

I have a better idea.............since there is NOTHING that I need, want or want to see in "Q" bec, and the only French I know is in a dressing bottle or a deep fryer, I don't ever venture over there. The bridge across the river is only 4 km's away. I treat it much the same way they treat the border between North & South Korea. Heard way too many horror stories in regard to Ontario plates and the QPF in La Belle Province.

I was toting part of a locomotive radiator into Yorkton, Saskatchewan one year, went through the checkpoint and had all the paperwork and stuff, yet the Border Patrol Agent asked me, "Why don't you just buy a radiator in Canada?"

The stinking thing took up the back of a truck and was only part of the radiator, and I was like, "You can't just buy a radiator for a locomotive at Autozone."
