Burning 24/7 is pretty much over here. The high was 70 here yesterday 52 now. A few more days and the ladies will be out to the wheat fields.
White Flag = Never. We're still burning 24/7 but even the lows have been higher, we're in for a cold stretch starting tomorrow... -12 tomorrow night, we start warming up at the end of the week. I'm thinking we'll get into some of next years Cherry this year but since the inventory is good it's not a problem.
Still burning here, overnight lows forecast to be in the single digits three nights between now and Wednesday.
Few more days with temps at night around zero....Sunday and Monday I think then warming up....It's all good cause I still got plenty wood....
Doesn't matter. We'll burn until we don't need to burn. Sorta full loads at night, carries thru until the next night.
Geezum, the grounds gotta unthaw first and I still have a foot of snow on mine. Shoulder season here, still, for sure.. which all that means for me on this end of shoulder season is we let the stove pretty much smoulder and just burn down the coals all afternoon, and maybe throw a split or two in, but just to keep it warm. I think a Soapstone with Cat really makes life easier here because the stone will hold the heat for a much longer time than my old steel Garrison did, and that way I don't need to do a re-light later in the evening. it's also more controllable, so I don't get it too hot during the warmer afternoons. I hate doing re-lights.. geezum I hate that. I keep it going
I was able to take a couple days off last week, but yesterday was a high of 35 and we got 3" of snow. Forecast is for 60's for the weekend and all next week. Maybe just some overnight fires if that is the case.
Maters don't go in the ground until Memorial Dayish here and we are usually burnin 24/7 through Mother's Day
Still going 24/7 here but I'm getting sick and tired of it. Still about a foot of snow on the ground so that helps keep the temps down. Looks like we will finally see some average temps by the weekend and I can shut down the stove.
Ya but....80 degrees in my place and I am loving it and I do it all myself....I am so proud of me....
I am 60 miles inland from Boston and we are getting whipping winds.. all day. One side of my house is exposed (the Northeast side) to a large field, and across the street diagonally another large field so by the time the wind gets to my house it is really powerful. 27'F but feels like it's in the high single digits out there. PS the Fireview is doing a fine job keeping us warm on the inside.
No snow in my local area but still teens at night. Burning 24/7 for another month here (may be burning into May. )
24/7 here, Full load during the work days, only partial reloads when home. have a 1/3 dry cord yet, going to have pic and choose after that.
Well, I'm getting lazy, ...the house stays pretty warm at night these days even if the temps dip into the very low thirties. ...waking up in the morning is a little chill, but then I just run the furnace for a few, and turn it off again, and by 9:30 to 10:00AM the sun starts doing it's job. I guess I'm just kind-of sick of it, and my back has had enough for one year. If you're looking for me, I'm over in the Bullchitting thread, or the Soundtrack thread, doing what I do best.. screwing off.
