Who's making good oil filters now?

I like amsoil. I run it whenever I can.

All 10w-40 is non energy conserving fwiw. I've had to top off with non moto specific 10w-40 before. No issues.

 

I've used exact Meijer 10w-40. I forget who makes their oil but it's fine. I prefer full synthetic, but when) if you need oil and that's what you have to choose from, it's fine.

 

That or 15-40.

I change oil about 250 miles, maybe less sometimes. At that mileage it's just starting to change color. It's less than a quart. I'll splurge every now n again and give her some synthetic.

 

Thanks for posting this. I'm about 12 minutes in and it's a great video. Things have really changed in the past 3-4 years with oil. A big thing is still that if your flat tappet engine is stock, then you can run the newer oil no issues. He mentioned fully built engines still needing racing oil with high zddp ( I have a hard time getting over Lake missing one of the "D" ' s in zddp, because he says "zdp" routinely), but where's that line? I'd say better safe than sorry. The diesel oil detergent issues he mentions in a couple vids is interesting as well. Those diesel oils have changed in the last few years. While a lot of these things were true, they've changed. It's great to know that there's someone researching and studying, as well as answering people's questions.

 

Yes, confirmed. Purolator pure1 filters are much more robust steel than wix are now. There was a wix on my new boat. It crumpled under barely any force removing it. The pure1 on my truck, the old one didn't deform at all with the same strap wrench and the new pure1 that replaced my old pure1 on the truck is the same diameter as the boat one.

 

Here's another good video which corrected my way of thinking. I always thought that premium fuel was just simply higher octane. I was wrong. Seeing I only use Shell gasoline (I like their rewards program and they do have good gas), this relates directly to me. I'm sure other brands are the same way.
