Was watching this strange white stuff drift down as I waws loading limbs into the Explorer to take to the dump's brush pile. Was wicked windy and the thermometer stubbornly stayed at 30 while the sun was out. Both stoves have cycled on and off throughout the day - mainly because of the wind. If it had been calm, the sun probably would have warmed the main floor enough to keep the P43 at rest.

It was so windy that it broke my flag off the side of the house. I had to go gather up the remains before the flag whipped either of the aluminum pole sections up into the electrical wires coming to the corner of the house. Was thinking it was about time to take it down for the winter season anyway, but I guess it couldn't wait.

He had to go through a class before he was allowed to get the permit. Plus Mom's been chewing his ear off on all the rules and how fast the car/privies can be taken away!

In some cases worse. At least some drunks still try to look at the road.

Last night dropped in the low 20's and I Oopsied. Didn't switch to high low. Not a biggie, But stove had to work a bit this AM. Supposed to be below 30 again tonight(I actually watched the weather with my eyes open this time). Stove switched to hi/lo. House is 73°F and the beer is still really really cold! ;)

With the stove in hi/lo, The temps don't drop as fast and the stove stays warm when the stat calls for heat , So it brings the temp up quicker and saves a cycle or 2 on the igniter.

The stoves are still on room temp / auto, but a few more mornings in the teens, like this morning, will change that. In the 20's, the bedrooms over the garage are still warm enough - well, as long as it is warmer or at least sunny during the day.

Looks like the next few are going back to the mid 40's. weekend nights look to be lower(low 30's). So Its back to auto/off at night until the weekend. Due to decent solar gain, I generally only use the high/low in the evenings. Days it usually gets switched back to auto/off unless we are home.

My stove struggled a little being downstairs , I ended up putting it on high everything and closing the practice room door just to the right of the stove which is 25 by 25 . Also I was just using FSU 's which are ok and I'm not comfotable yet running it wide open .

Saw 70 degrees on the thermometer today. Really warm fall so far, I've only been burning a bit of propane just to take the chill off. Checked the tank yesterday, and still was 76% full! I looked back at old records, and I've usually burned about 25 bags of pellets by now, so I'm pretty happy with this weather.

The forecast, however, has other ideas. Lows in the 20's for the next few days, and there is supposed to be this strange white stuff falling from the sky this weekend...no accumulation, but still...:faint:

Oh before I forget , when someone says their stove will stay on Hi / Lo once it gets really cold does that mean there will always be a flame or the fan will stay on and never go into complete shut down .

Car dash said 60ºF(never trust it) something. This temp was from the side decks outside thermometer do hicky. Usually pretty close...........

The low setting on my stove(aka as heap) has a maintenance fire, Convection fan is on its lowest speed. But its sister stove the maxx the blower goes off. So it kind of depends on the stove.

Ok I got you . The way I set up my CB 1200 is for a twenty minute shut down but keeping the fan on so it can still move whatever heat is left from the burn . If I let the stove do a complete shut down the house will get cold.

My 10-cpm had Hi-Lo. I always had fire, but the stove would go into low burn until stat called for heat again, then ramped feed back to my pre-set level. The stove won't switch to Hi-Lo by itself....you have to program it or "switch" it to that setting.
