Glad I'm not the only one who has done this. I did the same thing last year with the Hastings :picard:

I remember one season tearing my stove to bits. Kept telling myself it ran fine in manual, Why won't it fire in auto??? :hair:

Only to find the stat was off.

The best thing I was ever told was.... To write yourself a note and place it in the hopper reminding you of all the things that need done before firing.

I.E.- Plug stove into Surge protector, take both Damp rid's out of ash pan and hopper, remove plastic cover from termination cap and OAK, put new batteries in thermostsat, and add some pellets. :) I didn't do one this year, but the previous 6 years I did.

Your list will vary based on your care, type of install, etc...

Did a one hour test run. All systems are a go. There were a couple of unhappy spiders I seen running for their lives.

I preferred to tape a note about all the stuff that needed to be done, over the control panel......tough to miss that.

I was close to firing the Enerzone today. It's still dirty from last season, but I ran a diagnostics check on all motors, blowers, ignitor, and pressure switch. I carried a bag of pellets up and then decided to put on sweatpants and grab an adult beverage (or 6). It's only 71° in here now, but feels much colder than normal.

The wife was shaking her head the whole time... I think she was about ready to :heidi:

You'll find that log kit cumbersome during the season. I saved mine just for the summer time (curb appeal). It takes to much time to clean them and they become brittle after so much burning time.

I bought a steel plate with a sunburst in it from a member on a different site. That helped cut down on the glow into the bedrooms when the stove was running. The plate is on the Hearth in front of the stove. I still have it, but it will not mount in my current stove.

Oh yeah, can't wait for my first baked sweet potatos to come out. I even have a couple already - just need to remember to pop them in the stove.

No stove here yet. Daytime highs are in the high 70's, and we get tons of solar gain, so even with lows in the 40's at night it still stays comfortably in the 70's in the house.

Good thing too. I'm trying to mothball the CPM this year, and see if the revolution can handle things all by itself. I do have a tank full of propane @ 1.39/gallon, so I'm covered through the shoulder season anyway. Anyway, the Revolution is still sitting in the garage, waiting on the multifuel hopper set up to arrive. Not gonna heat the house very well from the garage...

Over the summer I fully cleaned stove, chimney, and installed a full liner. Only had a 4ft pipe previously. Also painted inside the stove a bit so I figured I'd fire it up for an a bit during daylight hours. All appears good.

But don got it shipped right away so as soon as it gets here I'll be throwing it in and test firing for the season.

No fire from my stove yet. I still have to do my deep cleaning. I am also considering replacing the combustion motor this year. It was starting to get noisy by the end of last season. I guess no too bad for a 5-6 year old stove.
