I do hope to get busy but it all depends upon the weather an my body. Both sometimes object. Tonight we are forecast to get snow and ice with it continuing in the morning then warm up. So, it might get a bit sloppy out there. Tis okay either way. I can be busy indoors or out.
Continuing to take advantage of all of the dead and down on my property. Bucked and moved two good sized logs last night over to the splitting area. Going to split those and maybe fell some dead that are threatening a fence and some that are calling to me to be c/s/s! I will spread some good thoughts about great weather to the rest of you. Maybe even post some pics!
Wife is taking the kids for full day swim meets on both Saturday and Sunday - I'll be taking advantage and heading to my neighbors to buck up a big red oak and continue cutting the bunch of trees I felled last May and still need to process. Put up about 8 cord this fall and still so much to go. I'll be running the 372 and I think I'll run the 51 for a while - she's a fun little saw to run - really woke up with the muffler mod. Weekend weather in the low 40s! Cheers!
It's going to be 53 and windy tomorrow. Up to 45 mph gusts. I won't go in the woods with winds like that as there will be trees seating and dropping branches. Now Saturday, high of 45 with 10-15 mph winds. Much better. I'll be bucking and hauling. Maybe even felling a tree or 3. I need to split some as well, and get my hauled in rounds onto a pallet and off of the ground. Rain is moving in for Sunday, and my rounds that I've hailed over to my buddy's house are where his downspout empties in a low spot. I didn't think about that. That reminds me, that I need to grab a couple of pallets from work tomorrow.
Heck I do not blame you with the high wind deal. Heck who knows how the tree will fall when a gust comes up plus like you said the widow makers.
I have several cord waiting to be skidded down to the processing area. We haven't had enough snow to keep the logs clean, but I think there is enough now. They are calling for snow Friday night, changing to rain showers on Saturday. If it isn't raining too heavy I'll probably work in it to get this step done (I'm normally done skidding in mid January).
I don't even want to be in the woods even if I'm just cutting stuff that's down. There's mass potential for a branch that a saw didn't even touch anywhere near that tree to go flying. When it gets too muddy, after full spring thaw, and before the ground dries up enough, then I'll cut stuff by the road and easy to get. I've got more than enough to keep me busy. I just need to plan it out and act on my plans.
Ive got cabin fever bad too. Im about 57 years ahead on firewood if I don't sell anymore. thinx I'll take the lil woman to the casino this weekend to unwind.Springs still 8 weeks out.
I plan on getting a "fix". Have a shagbark and cherry propped off the ground I at least want to get on Sat and hopefully run the splitter some on Sunday---I need some TTT, (trigger time therapy) Stay safe my friends.
I'm jealous. Very little snow here this year. Hmmm...that reminds me that I haven't been shooting for a little while.
Wanted to work in the woods today as it feels like spring arrived today! However, like Horkn stated, this is a good day to stay out of the woods. Too windy.
