I hear you Well Seasoned. Just as we were heading inside after our final shovel/snow thrower session this evening, I finally noticed 2 ft of snow on the roof of the house. Raking that down will be my first chore of the moring
Good morning everyone, Yes, some but not as many as predicted. My neighborhood was spotty and power was restored fairly quick! "AWESOME" job by the linemen crews! ANYONE who works with electricity has my utmost respect!!! Needless to say as some of you know where I work it could have been worse but it was bad enough!!! It was the wind and the tides that beat us to a pulp! I am(office)is 125ft from the Atlantic ocean water front. "NUFF" said! We had record high tides with 65mph wind gust. We didn't get the snow that many of you all got, maybe 6" in spots but the wind blown rain, ice, and tidal surge beat us up pretty bad. I know of 4 sunk boats already. "No panic" no one was on board, they were tied up in marina's, one broke loose and sank in our harbor. I will be back in about noon to do a more damage assessment for my dept. folks are getting ready for our next big tide but the wind has basically fallen out, just a very light breeze. My base is fully ready and can supply it's own power if needed by back up systems. It isn't like Nor' easters haven't been here before. "People here" (locals) know the drill for the most part, it's the out of town folks who just moved in go insane! There are many "BARRIER" islands here, and people want to have a summer home right on the shore. They forget Old "Mother nature" deals out a can of kick A$$ then wonder why their house is flooded or destroyed! It didn't take the native American Indians long to figure out not to "LIVE" on them, the would hunt and farm them but not settle there! They were the smart ones!. Oh well, story complete. Let the fun begin! My house stayed a comfy 80* and high and dry!
OK Southern folks, PLEASE REMEMBER to shovel out dryer and furnace vents that could be blocked by snow! outdoor electrical outlets too if you had high winds the older ones do not always seal tight.. I feel bad as 2 feet is not easy to deal with without proper equipment! other than that me and my avatar (yup that's a 76 inch Meteor blower on back of bota) are feeling bad for you cause we are ready but no snow
Jus as a regular trouble man, they did put a guy with me for the storm. Hasn't been a lot of outages here luckily. So far it's just been clean up work. Lots of cable and phone wires down. Dodged the bullet on this one I believe.
Whewww glad that is over. We got somewhere around 18-20" with drifts over 6ft. I could barely make it out this morning due to the drifts on my road. Plowed 13hrs yesterday, came home for dinner and a few hrs sleep and back in at 3am for another 12hrs. About halfway through today's shift the quick attach plow on my truck decided to become a quick "un-attach" . The bolt that holds the top mounting piece to the mounting ram pulled the threads right out of the ram. The entire plow setup came off when I put it in reverse. Not a good day . time for some of these. Here's a few pics. The first two are during the storm on saturday and the 4th was this morning finishing up the lots. The kubota was me clearing a couple drives at home while i had the chance yesterday. And lastly my plows final resting place
Wife and I tag teamed it and got what we could off of the north side. The south side usually melts on it own. Thanks for asking.
Nice work Smokinpiney Pushing snow with those winds made it blinding im sure. Gonna be able to get the plow back in service?
My firewood processing area got pummeled . Big thanks to the wife for picking up a couple of extra tarps before the storm so all of the split and stacked piles were covered and most of the unsplit rounds were too. Two thumbs up to her.
Have to special order the whole ram. Lookin at around $800. glad it's a work truck Yea plowing throughout the day yesterday was almost like pizzin in the wind.
