New tire hit a piece of metal sticking out of the bridge joint at 65 mph on the interstate. There were 6 other vehicles on the side of the road with flats. I keep going 2 miles to the service plaza. Wasn’t changing it in the dark on the road side.

Was it on the way to a job site, or were you doing some work on it?

On the way to the pour, I had all the equipment on the truck to make it happen. Learned to “be prepared” long ago.

Did the steel belt get caught up in the hub? using the strap to pull it out?

Belt was stuck between the backing plate and axle. I tried yarding it out with the strap but ended up cutting it with my battery angle grinder.

On time is late. 30 minutes early is on time. Good that you had some extra time built into your plan.

Believe it or not it’s not uncommon for the metal that the membrane is attached to to come loose.

Yep, my MO is to be there 2 hours early. Travel is usually over an hour from hq. anything can happen. The work for the day could not be completed without the machine I’m towing. Ton of problem solving involved gotta be quick on you feet!

You did well my friend. And people don’t often appreciate that until they hire a guy for a little less to save a few bucks and he doesn’t show up. Ends up costing them dearly.
