    Looks like a lot of our yard maples around here. The darker orange looking wood at the base where it broke, I'd guess that is punky rotten wood, and thats why it's darker/orangish....?

    Ok, I passed on the hoard. My wife mentioned this morning as I was pondering the trip...hey, we have a tree down. Well the oak I was trying to take down with tannerite finally came down naturally. I’ve got a hoard close to home! Whooood!

    Looks like a lot of the trunk is rot?? But hard to tell on the pics. I wouldn’t go 40 miles for it.
