Don’t mess with the blue flame. It may break down but the seats are comfortable.

Been trying to work out our family vaca this summer and so far nothing has panned out...I mentioned heading to central PA and making an appearance at the GTG...seems like it might be a possibility...for anyone that lives there ( Scotty Overkill , blacksmith ) any personal recommendations for things to do/see that a 7 and 4 YO would be interested in?
Turns out my wife has a cousin in nearby Fishertown that we haven't seen since 2010...definitely have to stop by there...

There's the world famous Horsehoe Curve (where the big trains go over the mountain) it's a well-known engineering feat, all kinds of little things to see and do here.

And if you're coming a day early there's the complimentary Overkill keyhole firepit supper here at the house!

I'm going to try and get some fireworks too....

Working out the details. All depends on how many are planning on coming.

Like Scotty said the horseshoe curve and the railroaders museum. All geared towards the Pennsylvania RR who is the reason that Altoona exists.

There's also the east broadtop railroad about 60 minutes from the GTG. It's a narrow gauge steam excursion and you can also tour the shops. You'd have to check for when they are running.

There's also DelGrosso's amusement park. It's a very nice park and I'd say they have one of the best water parks around. They also boast the best park food in the nation. That's literally 5 minutes from Scotty's house.

Slinky action zone is a popular place for kids as well. It's nothing but games and a very nice play area.

Old Beford village about 60 minutes from the GTG. It's a living time capsule of life in the 1700's. They have different themes that they run throughout the summer.

In hollidaysburg (about 15-20 minutes south of the Overkill Compound and gtg site) there's Chimney Rocks and a steam engine railroad ride. That would be halfway between fishertown and the gtg.
10 minutes east of hollidaysburg, is Canoe Creek state park, they have some really coal limestone kilns from a couple hundred years ago.

When you first tagged me in this thread it brought me to your post, not the beginning. I thought this was Dennis’s get together in Michigan. Finally figured out it’s Pennsylvania. Good news, the sign will be there. Bad news, I’ll bring it LOL

Now is that eggshooter guy showing up? That’s my handle on some other forums. Maybe I’ll bring some noisemakers. Put some eggs out at 300 yards and make omelets.
