We had snow forecasted for Sat, but I think it'll change by then. Also, welcome aboard Blackop555 ....Central U.P?
I was just thinking about the fact the leaves haven't shown any movement when I was driving home from work last Friday. However, a "warmish" day on Saturday and a bit of rain yesterday, I can almost notice a bit of green on the trees. I have to look a little away from them to see the green. If I look straight at them - no green. Must be a quantum thing I guess?
Ahh! Nice area. Near any lakes? Or is your time just spent on border patrol? Gotta watch those neighbors to the south.....always trying to cross, ya know? Remember, if they don't pronounce "sauna" correctly, don't let them in!!!
The green is really coming on now. Was noticing today how much less we can see in the woods because leaves are growing. Better for the deer for sure. Lilacs just starting to open today. Hummingbird returned today. Planted corn today.
there's a Great Horned Owl that took over a Red Tail Hawk nest about 60 feet from one of our bedroom windows. My wife had me remove the screen so she could take photos. getting so we can't see the baby owl any more as the leaves are opening. there are 28 windows on the house... about 15 with screens - the rest are in the basement for one reason or another, mostly having to do with pictures or birds.
Ya, I know that you're not really that far south of us (a little tongue in cheek on my part), but hopefully we will all be basking in warmer temps soon. Nothing like sitting on the deck, cold beverage in hand, and watching the world go by (and swatting skeeters yippee).
Yup. You are right. Wife was hollering about skeeters today while working in garden but I did not see any. Typically we have a bit hatch around the 20th. I'm trying to hurry getting things caught up before then. Yes, I figured it was tongue in cheek there!
Our Barn Swallows finally showed up on Friday. In 2013 they were her in March. I think its going to be a short summer.
the nest is about 50 feet in the air. our house is built on top of a 20 foot or so rise of land so from the second story it looks nearly directly across at the nest.
Norway maples are about half way along and a nice lime green but everything else is just starting to pop. Apples and peaches are about half way. Gypsy moths are starting to hatch out. The dormant spray I tried apparently didn't work. Hornet spray does though ...
Trees are sprouting their leaves and even the cherrys (choke cherry) trees are starting to blossom today. Well, some of them anyway. Apples shouldn't be too far away for blossoms now.
