who knows hot peppers?

    ma gave me some of these from her farm share. i threw it in a bowl of salsa last night. tasty and hotter than a jalepeno. any ideas?

    Shichito, maybe? That is kind of what it looks like but there are hundreds of peppers. I am curious to find out what it is.

    It's an Italian long hot. One of my favorites, love to fry em up and put on a burger or sandwich.

    Loom that does look an awful lot like yours! Here is a link I found for long hits. I'm wondering if two different names are used? Or just look alikes?

    I had some cowhorn last year that are a type of cayenne that looked like those.

    Not sure dutch but they look the same eh. I googled long hots and couldnt find anything different in names? What was the link?

    That does look like a cowhorn.
    Peppers can have varying degrees of hotness depending on soil/water/nutrient content.

    I have some jalapenos that are barely eatable and some that are flavorful off the same plant. It's not the burn in my mouth either these things give me gag reflexo_O

    The jalapenos from mine this year aren't very hot so far. The habanero are pretty warm any way.

    I've got some Japs that are ultra hot this year. But I've got 6 ghost pepper plants this year. They are doing wonderful. I made some Ghost pepper salsa yesterday. I'd not tasted a Ghost pepper yet, so I put one seed on my tongue. It wasn't too bad. I bit it, and then swallowed it. Well then...:bug:the heat kicked in. Its kinda of a weird body function. When all your saliva factories kick into overdrive...:rofl: :lol:... Then I forgot I had licked my lips. Well the rest was history. :rofl: :lol:... Cold beer came to the rescue.....:whistle:

    I cant eat anything hot? But i do take em into work for the guys, they have a competion at lunchtime and its funny as all getout to watch them BURN!! :chef: :D

    One other pepper that I steer clear of is Tabasco's - they serve no other purpose than to burn your mouth, no flavor at all.

    I have ghost pepper flakes and dried scorpion peppers I use like red pepper flakes for pizza and stuff like that. I can't make everything as hot as I want since the kids and wife want to eat it too.

    Some peppers take a lot to make any heat, others, very little. A lot like different types of firewood.
