Its all a matter of perspective. I have about a case of 9mm and a case of .45 that will probably last me a lifetime for 2 pistols I barely shoot. I split a pallet of shotgun shells with a buddy (approx 100 cases of 250 rounds) that will get me through about a year of competitive shooting. What to take from this, buy more ammo, it doesn't go bad, it will get used eventually.
That sounds about right. If I were of the hoarding mindset, I think maybe 25,000rds would be a reasonable amount to have around. About half of that being .22. Just sayin'
it's not hoarding.. its being prepared.. a truck or saw with no gas is not a useful tool! guns and no bullets is same.. I can get gas 20 places in 20 miles.. if finding ammo was that easy I would have less on hand.. What will really blow your mind.. read annual sstock reports on the ammunition manufacturer's they are producing 22rounds 24 hours a day 7 days a week.. somebody's buying them!
I sometimes browse rimfirecentral.com. The other day I saw a few guys mentioning that they still go to Walmart every single morning to check on and buy .22 ammo! It's those d-bags that are causing the issues!
4 manufacturer of 22 center fire in us.... cci, winchester, federal and Remington all 4 have been producing full tilt since 2008.. figure between 4 manufacturers running 24/7 they make at least a half million rounds a day for 8 years.. not guys buying bricks at Walmart that's the problem...
When I was around 11-13 years old my mom was a competitive shooter. We were at the range almost every day, and I started collecting lead from the berms. I used to sell the lead to the gun shop. Made pretty good money for a kid doing that.
