Is Hi/Lo a setting on your stove? With a Harman, all I do is set the desired temp in the Room Temp mode and the stove does the rest. It will shut down if there's no call for heat and start back up when there is. Or I can flip a switch and it won't shut down but just idle along in maintenance burn until there is a call for heat. And then there is Stove Temp mode but I won't bore you with the details.

Your room temp is the same as most stoves on/off with a thermostat.

When you flip the switch, it is equal to most hi/lo stoves on a thermostat.

Your stove temp is equal to other stoves being run in manual. Except you have many more tweaks to your stove temp where I for instance only have 6 "stove temps" for all intents and purposes.

There is very little difference in how a Harman works than most stoves. There is some word play and perhaps a smarter controller. But with it there are some drawbacks. Whereas my temperature limitations depend on how good my independant thermostat was made.

But to my original point. Harman does have what is commonly called in other stoves hi/lo. It would be room mode auto I believe.

I understand what you're saying. Hi/Lo is not a term heard when discussing Harman's, therefore I didn't understand what it was. Harman's are essentially running on a thermostat when in Room Mode and I agree Stove Temp is running the stove in manual. Bottom line is a stove with Hi/Lo runs like a Harman!:D

Same concept as when a Harman is run in room temp / manual - the stove will idle until there is a call for heat then it leaps back into a lively flame. I ust that in the basement stove in the coldest parts of winter. Otherwise it would start back up right after cycling off if I had it in room temp / auto.

I use a Lux thermostat with a wide swing setting to allow the stove enough time to cool / shut down before starting back up , but am wondering how I get it to stay on idle ? I have two switches low , med , high and low and high . CB1200 in the basement.

    Sorry, the cb1200 controller doesn't have a hi/low mode on/off only.

I know Pete , I was raised in that area , want to get home to see Mom and my brothers , but if it's the white chit coming down I'll pass at this point in my life . Back in the day I drove in that Chit all the time 2 wheel drive no problem , even though we have an SUV I don't doubt my ability it's the other balls to wall Azz holes out there that scare me :hair: I haven't seen the long range forecast yet hoping for dry and sunny .

Well, the little Whit lost it's battle.

Got home last night about 10 and the house was barely 65 F

Fired the big Whit and ran it through the night.

Looking like we are to a point that the big guy is gonna have to shoulder the load.
