Yes, you can. But no need to have to do it all at once. If you cut a year's supply plus 1/3 of a year, doing that 3 years in a row will put you at the 3 year mark then it is easy sledding from there on.
Sav, I think the math is a little off. It would be cutting 1 2/3 year supply each year. Come out of this winter (#1) having cut 1 and 2/3 years supply. Next winter (#2), add 1 and 2/3, subtract 1.. End up winter #2 with 2 and 1/3 in the stacks. Cut 1 2/3, burn 1 during winter #3 and come out of winter #3 (spring 20116) with 3 years in the stacks. Cutting 1 and 1/3 year's supply per year would put you ahead by 2 years after 3 years.
Well I'll be. I thought for sure if you cut an extra 1/3 of a year for 3 years in a row you'd have enough for one year. Then I quit thinking.... Just one of my many faults.
Believe me.. I did the math like 8 times since I'm in the boat of barely making it through this year and needing to get 3 years ahead... Plus, in writing that post, I felt like I was questioning a senior military officer!!!!
That's funny. I remember many years ago when my mother was alive. In her living room she had a large picture of me. I was wearing a trebark shirt, sitting but no smile. A fellow who came there saw it and told her he was betting I was a GI Drill Instructor and he would not want to cross me. One time I was there and the fellow came in. Right as soon as he saw me, he pointed and said, "OMG! That's him!" Got a good laugh out of that one. I think my sister inherited that picture.
I hear ya. I am getting the word out there that I am a wannabe fwh. I have a couple of people that want some nice oaks and beech removed from thier property so thats my start for next year. Now if I can fell em without hitting the house doh ! ahhhhm sorry bout that Jim
You'll getr Jim… I scrounge all year long. I hurt my back in 2010 and had 3 disc surgries, and not quite 100% but ya keep going, "just slower". Then Christmas 2012 I started battling esophegeal cancer, so those two things kinda slowed me down a bit.. Basiclly what I'm saying is, "When the Firewood hoarder bug bites", YOUR DONE…. You'll be like the rest of us on here slobbering over our wood piles.. Be for warned… DON"T try to keep up with some of these folks in here, you'll go insane, Scotty, Backwoods savage, campinspector, just to name a few…. there wood piles are completely out of sight! I'm on a 70' x 150' lot and I have/try to keep 12 to 15 cord in rotation. Then I get the people that say….. Gee, why do you have so much wood…. and it starts Just by being here, I'm sure your in the club…. Stay with your hoarding! Pictures of scores go a long way here, we all love to see um
She is a good girl savemoney And she likes to be in the action.. Running out of fillers and next week looks good and cold as usual Gonna head over to the farm tomorrow and get a bunch of dead limbs to finish this year I know Oak needs a good 3 years but was wondering if i split these quite small in March would they be good to go next winter? Hardly any Oak around here and not too sure if this will work? The tree was felled last year and has been stacked since. Thanks eh!
I used to visit someone who had a dog like that one. This person had a big high fenced in yard. The grandkids would go out and play there with the dog, but no one else. The dog was very possessive of the kids and wouldn't allow non family members to get near the kids. She kept an eye on every one of them. If the kids were not around, she was ok with strangers.
Loon, since your avatar doesn't give a clue where you are located, best answer is try to stack it in as sunny & windy location you have. Use spaced rows to allow good air flow stacking it loosely. If stacking on pallets, a handy way to do it, only use 2 rows so you can have the spaced rows. If you were in Missouri, were able to follow the above guidelines, & kept the splits no bigger than 5" I'd say you'd have a chance.
I've burned a bit over a cord. And about 3.5 tons of pellets. Still have about 3 cords left. 2 of that needs to sit another year. Neighbor 4 houses down is on cord 11 with his OWB. Neighbors across the street are on pickup load umpteen of greener than grass wood for their smoke dragon furnace.
She does has fun rotti Over the border not too far from Syracuse Oliver, will be trying it out for sure and it will be in full sun. That dog kinda sounds like Murphy was savemoney but he was in his own little world Emma wasnt allowed around me, visiters had to be careful and even Mrs loon had to watch herself Dont get me wrong as he was a super buddy but i just had to watch him. Here he was just getting back from them taking off in the fields/woods and forgot to bring Emma home? which is a whole different story..lol..
