Row three of oak mountain is now filled up. I want to bring home enough oak for 2 more rows, then start splitting.

 

LOL. I was actually floating the idea of one last load after today (which would pretty much take care of the rest of what’s still there) but I just can’t justify that drive. And I still have another 3/4 load at my buddy’s house to get, which is only 8 miles closer to home but still a 35 minute drive. I feel pretty good about the amount we got from there and the amount left behind that the homeowner will have to contend with

 

Why not? I almost did!

 

I filled my basement w/ CO a couple months back. Walking down there now, the furnace room smells excellent. Doesn’t rival a full load of apple, but I do love white oak family smells. The rewards of all our hard labor pays off in several ways. Are you catching any smells when the wind blows just right? Guess you could call that enjoying the finer points of burning wood.

I'll bring a tote or 2 full of firewood to our friends house tonight. It's chilly and we're watching the game outside, so while his wife says they don't need any firewood, after my last bed full I brought them earlier this year, I'm bringing enough for a fire tonight just in case.

 

What game is on the menu? I’m guessing it’s probably not the Yankees

 

With these cooler mornings it’s been very conducive to working outdoors, so I started tackling oak mountain. This stack is 4’ high x 12’ long so each row is half a cord. I still have 2 more rows of rounds to plow through, so I’m going to have to figure out where to put the rest as this area is filling up fast.

Thanks. The other night my kid and I were busting the rounds apart into manageable pieces, that’s it though. It’s good stress relief but my wrist can only take so much blunt force trauma.

 

Uh oh. Wasn't aware of your wrist? Recent injury? Arthritis?

 

I’ve got 2 titanium plates screwed into both bones. Can’t beat on things for prolonged periods without paying for it for days afterwards. Bike accident back in 2008 where I slammed into the back of a truck at 60mph.

 

Yikes! You may have told me that and I forgot. Lucky to be in one piece.
