Here in our area, Verizon has way better coverage. Especially in the mountains of NW Pa

Yep, we're saying the same thing, pretty much. In the SE USA, Verizon is good. But , for example, the whole northern half of California, if you have Verizon and you are not in a big city, good luck. Your verizon phone is essentially useless there. ATT works great there though.

Yea I meant that what you say is the way it is.

And if you have T Mobile or Virgin or some other Sprint based service including sprint, you might want to never leave the interstate or the like top 20 largest towns in the state.

    If it's even 20??

After crossing this country many times, I can't agree with this one. I've yet to see any better ones out there. But perhaps they are terrible in your area.

Almost bought a phone yesterday but may wait a month until our contract runs out.

Well We'll have to agree to disagree on that Verizon thing, because I've been all over this country and countries to the north and south, many times with my brother and friends that have had Verizon, and they got no or extremely poor signal far more times than the other carriers ( ATT, us cellular, T Mobil and even Sprint, although TMobile and Sprint have been in the running for the worst coverage for years).

But the real deal is if it works where you use it most.

This is really puzzling because several people say the same with Verizon being the best all around yet Horkn finds it otherwise. There are a couple we've had experience with locally with ATT being the worst and Sprint not too far behind. I have not tried Tmobile so can not say about them. So this makes me wonder if some of what our friend Horkn is has experienced has to go more with the phone rather than the company?

As for at home, by far Verizon is the one that works the best but even that is not what I feel it should be. After all, there is a tower 6 miles from us. There is another tower 5 miles in the other direction but I do not know whose tower that is.

I like my AT&T... been with them for 17 years... your area I just don’t have the reception... but from all the other areas I’ve been to, I really couldn’t complain so far. Now I had a buddy that had Verizon at his house he had very spotty reception... while I had full bars... but to cut the pie between those two phone providers... I’d say it’s like splitting hairs...
