I liked the colour in the first picture. Here is a pic of my entry way showing somewhat the gold colour I used. It is really hard to get a pic that is true to life.

    100_2922.JPG

I had to be careful when I choose it that I didn't get too much yellow tones in it.

I agree!!!!! I read your gold suggestion post several times already... I could not make the original swatchs work. Finally Saturday I read you post for the nth time, hubby came home with new samples, and home run!

Thanks a bunch WW, and yes, crazy how close my pic and your pic are in color :)

Thank you very much STB, love those colors! Navajo White was a contender, but I also cannot get my mind off Mountain Laurel for my new laundry room. You and her have GREAT taste!

LOVE the pics, beautiful home! I do not have a Behr here. I have been stripped of paint color choosing priveledges before, a few times...:emb:, though I have also got lucky and found some shades he likes too :) Over the past few decades I have mostly defaulted to his choices, as they always look great. This time though, since I will see the colors so much more than him, he wants me to choose.

Doing my best so we do not have to repaint

If you have Home Depot, you have Behr paint.

We used a color called "barely dawn" in the den it is almost a light tan/off white with a touch of pink hue. It goes well with the brick of the fireplace

Life would be much easier here if we had a home depot! I like the Behr color swatches, I could really use the ones that already coordinate. Closest one is 3 hour round trip. I don't see happening, but I am tired of trying to choose from what we have here (walmart, sherwinn williams, Ace). These are the paint chips I like, almost dummy proof :p

That's a shame. I am not in love with Home Depot, but I do like the Behr paint. Especially back when you could by oil based paint, but don't get m

Not a fan on home depot stores either, the ones in my previous city did not have motorized carts and the store is just too big for me. On the other hand, I do buy from them online here and there.

Decided on a color! We thought the 4th of July weekend could be ideal for us to prime/paint the main rooms in the house.

Cross your fingers nothing comes up to distract it, (I am tired of looking at raw mudded sheetrock walls  )

Just like Dr Woodwidow ordered :)

I hope your painting goes well. I can't wait to see the real thing on your walls. In a couple of days my holidays start and we are looking at washing walls and repainting. It has been few years since they were done last. I might even attempt a light peach bathroom again. :D

I'll be thinking of you this weekend when I attempt gel-staining my new back door. Pray I don't make a dog's breakfast of if.

Do you apply the gel stain with a brush, sponge or rag? I did all the doors in this place with a thick stain that I used a rag to apply. They turned out well. I covered the stain with a polyurethane finish and they have stood up well. Over 30 years! Mind you they were all interior doors. For exterior doors, I would probably look at using a marine product called Cetol by Sikkens. It stood up well in the marine environment on our boat.

I am going to start with a soft(china) brush. I have paint pads and cloths at the ready. I have never used gel before, but I have read that this is what you use on the fiberglass.
I think the idea is you are painting it, as the woodgrain is pressed into the surface, so you get more product in the crevices, giving it a varigated color. I will let you know after I finish and try to take a picture. Unless I screw it up and wind up painting it white.
I don't want to hijack Westie's thread, so I'll PM you.
Can't wait to see her room when it's done!!
