I bought a new "residential" z turn brand new some years back...that turned out to not be a wise choice for me...it eventually was replaced with a nice low hour used Hustler Mini Z, which is a smaller commercial machine (small version of the Super Z)
So if you are looking for advice here, go for the heavy duty machine...unless you are just mowing a small flat lot...

Edit: Notice that it lists "maintenance free transmission" on the Husky...yeah, that is not a "feature"...that was the exact thing that bit me in the butt on my old Toro...if you can't change the oil it is just a matter of time until it self destructs...BTDT, got the T-shirt.

Shop the dealers and see if there are any last years models on their lots. i saved over a grand when i bought my ferris. full warranty on the machine . it was very closr to my specs for a new mower.

$5000 is way out of my price range, actually $3000 is out of range, but if I can do ok on my trade in it might make it possible. We will see

Thanks the commercial machines are out of my price unless they have tons of hours on them and I don’t want that either. Lawn is 3/4 acres couple hills, but not too big. The Dixon 5020 does fine on it, just worried I’m going to run into maintenance issues.

Well that Hustler you listed there is a commercial machine and 270 hours on it is nothing...I'd jump on it...I gave more than that for my Mini Z in 2014(15?) and it had 400 hours on it then...

The Hustler Fastrak is actually considered a high end residential acreage mower. Not sure what the difference is in the Hustler line. It seems really well built.

True...but it has the Hydrogear ZT3100 hydro drives, which have spin on filters and are serviceable...considered commercial duty trans...but yeah, they are maybe not as HD as some of the more fully commercial grade Hustler drives...wouldn't stop me though, that seems like a good price for that machine.
Our local Hustler dealer is about a 1/2 mile down the road and is also an old family friend, he told me recently that the older Hustlers of a given model were built more bulletproof than the current "same model". In other words, to get something that will last as long as an older model from 6-8 years ago, you have to move up one model in the line now...sounds like they are all doing that now...kinda like most stuff now, the price only goes up a little bit, but the package size/quantity shrunk! :picard:

I bought residential, last year, from Reecoupons.com, by using discounted coupons, and really it's not too much expensive, my one is still working very well. I suggest you to buy this one, I must say it worth buying for me.

Good to know. The Hustler does seem to be a well built machine. The dealer only offered me $500 for my Dixon on trade. I don’t think I will be able to make a deal.

Can you sell it yourself? That would bring you the most proceeds from it I'm sure...

500? You can surely get a lot more on your own. Unless it needs a major repair.

The best time to get a "decent" trade in price on a mower is in the spring or early summer...after July 4th or so the trade ins are stacking up and they are just trying to figure out how to get rid of them all before winter so they don't have to store them...so yeah, probably not going to get a good trade price right now...

It is a good time to buy a mower now though.... We've got a friend with a few year old zero turn that sits in her garage that won't start. I'm asking her for pictures of it. She doesn't know much about it ( ex husband bought it) and when asked what she would want for it, she's she just wants it gone and that it cranks over but won't fire with a new battery.

I'm kinda excited to see what it is.....

I’m sure I could, but would have to time it up just right, wouldn’t want to sell mine then find out the one I want is sold.

Yes a was hoping for $1000 or so. Probably what the dealer would ask after they go through it.
