Backwoods Savage: I know what you mean. For whatever reason, my little log trailer has a really easy time piling wood from ground level to 5 feet, but over that and it gets awkward. Like you said, people come along and just assume the pile is 4 feet high, but that extra foot is a huge difference cord wise.

In the end I just tell them, "if you think you can get a better deal somewhere else, go for it." They always buy the wood because deep down they know its more then they are paying for.

My wife Katie captured exactly what you said one day with our camera. I had just felled a White Pine to use for our kitchens new flooring and she wanted to know why I cut the big tree down, so in this photo I was in the midst of explaining it... 100_3079.JPG

I've found it less than satisfying, and rather annoying/frustrating.:picard:

That would have to be some damm crooked trees.
A circle inscribed within a square is roughly 78% the area of the square and nobody stacks even rounds that perfectly.

That reminds me of a grain farmer I know. Maximum moisture content of a grain is always specified and the price is based on delivered weight of the grain that meets that standard. I have seen him water his light weight grain to get it up to that maximum moisture content just so that they would pay him for well water at the elevator.
